Description In 1954, a group of Japanese filmmakers set out to capture the horror of the Atomic Bomb. They personified it in a living creature and called it Godzilla. I wanted to bring the monster back to its roots in this picture. He isn't fun or cool, but terrifying.

Started as a simple sketch, then colored it in with pencils. Shading was done digitally.

Nice. It's a perfect imagination for that style.

exactly you captured what godzilla should be.. a monster i was wondering do you think you could pull off an updated realistic look to godzilla like not really undead but deformed considering he was created by radiation i always imaged him hidious ghastly and ugly with burn marks and radiation scars jagged long almost rotten looking teeth and pale white eyes just like in gmk that would be an epic look for him like the hills have eyes meets gojira

I've always wanted to see that! I'm not a big fan of radically redesigning the character's look, but I do like the idea of giving him more physical scarring. When I drew this piece, I based the patterns on his skin off the burns seen on radiation victims.
