First of all, I want to say something about myself ^__^ I'm not fully Russian, I'm half-Russian, half-Udmurtian. I bet, most of you don't know, who are Udmurts. Udmurt people are native minority in Russian. For Russian populatian they are like American Indians in USA. They have their own culture, language and religion! Their religion is like some mix between Japanese shin-to and shamanism. I want to make manga, based on Udmurt myths and legends ^__^If you are interested, please, visit some links, to know more about my people!

About picture - two of my original characters, Udmurt girls, little cousins, Dua and Daraly. Maybe they became main characters of my manga. You can see, they wears native Udmurt outfits!

I'm confused. Are Urdmurts native to Russia and then Russians came and kicked them out?
Anyway, I'd like to read something with Urdmurt in it. It seems like such a wonderful, but underrated, culture. I mean, there are lots of things based on Chinese, Japanese, Western European, and American things, and some on African and Australian things, but everything else is just looked over.

It's not exactly like that. Urdmurts native to the only very small part of Russia (this region still calls as Udmurtia principality). But yeah, about 400 years ago Russians came to Udmurtia and claimed this land as part of Russia. Fortunately they weren't too cruel to native people. Now Udmurtia is about 30 % of Udmurts and 70 % of Russians and we live in harmony.

What colors are typically used in traditional Urdmurt clothing?

Different tribes have slightely different colours, but most common colours are red, and white. Women wears red dressed with black chequered pattern. Aprons and headscarfs usually very bright - green, pink, purple with flower patterns. Necklaces made from silver coins.
