Erika stopped mid stroll towards her hiding place. The area, protected by magic that only a Face Queen could enter. It was her one place to escape her sad truth...Despite the pain in her heart, engrained politeness forced her to stop until the man, her fellow queen was within earshot of her.. She didn't have to turn around to know who it was either...his accent, and the familiar footsteps alerted her..She sighed, turning to face him, eyes devoid of anything. "What do you want Kirkland."
The man seemed taken aback, but he pressed on. "Please let me explain! What you saw...back there, it's not..it's not what you think!"
The words felt like a slap. What she saw wasn't what it was? This man was telling her that her kings declaration of love, and the kiss was not what it seemed?! It was bad enough that her husband refused to look at her as a wife...
bad enough that he gave her a room far from his own, and that he treated her like a child...plus taking his Ace as a lover, and now most likely the Queen of Spade!
How much more will my husband show he hates me? Why can't he even kiss me?!
But deep down she knew...Francis did not love her, and never would...Erika was only a queen in title. Her powers, the overflowing energy of Fontus, were slowly withering. She felt weak...because her husband, the King refused to lay with her and take his magic from her...It was an embarrassment. A shame...Francis didn't want her as his queen. The only one he wanted was Arthur...she already knew who he loved..
Angry tears welled in her eyes, she turned from the spade Queen. "Don't mock me Spade....I already know it's you who holds my kings heart." With that she walked away, sealing herself from the world inside her sanctuary of peace.
