Description A speculative illustration depicting a hypothetical giant (emu sized) Alvarezsaur in the midst of peeling away bark from a snag.
I tried to draw Linhenykus, and this is what happened.

I don't even like dinosaurs in trees, but this is an excellent example of what it would take to accomplish. Also, I like the compositional lines.

Thank you very much. What is it about "Dinosaurs in Trees" you don't like? Does it bring back painful memories of ill adapted arboreal hypsilophodonts?

Most attempts (including in the professional literature) to stick non-avian dinosaurs in trees are simply wrong, but are often accepted uncritically because so many people assume that birds evolved from tree-dwelling critters.

Hmm. Interesting. I've always found the repeated attempts to get dromaeosaurs up into the trees a little suspect, myself.

To be fair, microraptorines & scansoriopterygids were probably tree-climbers (if not tree-dwellers): [link]

Not bad (so far speculative) idea at all...

Very interesting... I can't say I know that much about prehistoric creatures, so is that fur or feathers? Also, I'm not exactly sure what those forelimbs it's using to grip the tree there are. Are they vestigial wings turning into arms or something of the sort?

It's covered in hair-like feathers, much like an emu or rhea. It's arms have more wing-like feathers, but they are pretty much vestigial.
