wow, this is so gorgeous.. just shows the powerful nature of the ocean. those smooth rocks are awesome too... made smooth by years of erosion I'm guessing. excellent capture.

whether it was intentional or not i think you turned sizes upside-down absolutely great! the small(er) rocks in the foreground seem so big and the (possibly) large wave in the background seems so small. this is really cool and how you achieved a "rock-gradient" through fore- middle- and background is just as great. good you nearly crawled - came out wonderful!

I want to slap my hand against those rocks and hear that cold wet smack! Great composition, but I'm sure I don't have to tell YOU that

Hehe, I'm wondering how many photos you have took during your holidays. Thousands I guess

Yeah, I'm not sure how many but it was probably about 20 rolls. I had a lot of spare time and a hire car with 150km 'free' per day. And having lived there for most of my life I know the area very well. Capetown is an amazing place for photography, there's so much variety of stuff in quite a small area.

moreover the beauty of the location helped you a lot.

It sure did! I would say it's hard to take a bad photograph in a location like that, except that I certainly managed to take quite a few But even though the technical aspects are still yours to get right or wrong, having an inspiring subject makes it easier to be in the right frame of mind to do a good job.

did you have to get down o the floor for this shot?

Quite low yes, probably two feet off the ground. I think one key to an impressive landscape is often to include a wide range of depths from very near foreground to very distant background. Very near foreground helps to involve the viewer. And getting down low is one way to get some good very near foreground action.

A fantastic shot. The composition is superb. The lighting captured perfectly with stong contrast. The only let down is the sky. It has the potential to make the shot. A little bit of burning and a little dodging, perhaps a gradient filter from black down would make it more dramatic. Fantastic though (I'm just fussy) going in the

Beautiful day for a nice relaxation on the shore. Those rocks are perfect for resting on, a very deserted beach where you are by yourself when out there, one with nature.

I like the hue you have for this shot, it gives more of that nostalgia remindering of my old visiting on beaches, in many contries, including the california shores. Good work.
