Description I had no idea where the heck to stick this, so in people it goes O_o...

The meaning of this painting is going with the flow, freedom and not stressing over things. She's falling but she doesn't mind where she lands and is focused on being happy - too many people stress these days and forget to have fun. I was originally going to give the girl colour but decided in the end to leave it be, plus it fits with the thought of she's not bound to anything. The rest I think speaks for itself? I'm no good at explaining.

I tried something new and painted the whole thing in grayscale first - except for the ribbons and light rays. I think it's probably my best original painting ever and surprisingly didn't take long at all, everything just clicked.

Anatomy references:

My arm.
And then just mah brain 8D (which is probably why things are off?)

This is really awesome. I love the meaning behind it...you are so right. People don't take time for themselves and to relax anymore. And usually when they do, they're worrying over things. I love the colors and the ribbons are lovely. This is just a wonderful piece!

I really love the rays of light spilling from the clouds. I think it's interesting that the bottom of the painting has darker tones; it almost seems a bit ominous/menacing (what is she falling into?) I don't totally understand the streamers of love and money -- they also don't particularly appear to be in freefall -- but I think the girl is drawn beautifully. Lovely piece.

I saw your post on the forums and the title stood out to me before I even had a chance to see the painting. For trying something new it was a very well put out.

I was wondering about the arm above her head, the hand looks blurred. Is it because of being close to the clouds? Her feature were well made. The usage of colors you used fits well with the title in away.

When I was drawing it I couldn't think of anything for a title and the song kept resounding in my head D: Just that one line "I'm freeeeeeeeee! Free faaallling!".

I tried to create a sense of motion by duplicating the human layer and then motion blurring it. She looking a bit too well 'captured' without it, like she was suspended instead of falling. Unfortunately, due the mostly downward nature of her pose it only really carried out in the hand, over one shoulder and the hair.

colour works very well, the pastel hues match the mood perfectly, I like the flowing lines, the take your eye to the focus of the main figure, you also have a good grasp of anatomy.

That's beautiful. It seems kind of dream-like. Maybe that's the soft colours. I particularly like the way you painted the light rays.

*nods* and you've just made me notice that it's in the portrait cateogry instead of surreal O_o... wonder how that happened.

Thankers 'Ral
