Just what DID Chui do already?
I loved drawing all the little background interactions in this page, from Safari meeting his "niece" to them bickering when Sabra returns.

Wow! This page looks amazing!! I love the way the serval is running over there and Safari is hissing at her in panel 2. This page looks extremely good, but I do have a bit to critique.
Almost everything looks good, but in panel 3 it's a bit hard to tell Faida is actually angry. I suggest making a few scrunched up parts (i have no idea what to call these) under her eyes?? It makes her look a bit more angry e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a… " width="19" height="19" alt="

I have a feeling the if Chui is the reason why it's the end of the world, I think it's because of his collar because I think the end of the world would be the humans. Just guessing.

I'm wondering if her conflict is because Giza instilled into her from a young age that things have to always stay the same- ie leopards are solitary animals who don't co-exist with other animals, and so because of this she is struggling with the idea that maybe they could join up with the hyenas and other assorted animals in Faida's tribe? She would need to adopt new ideas, which is what the old gazelle (Paa's mum but can't remember her name) was trying to teach her to do, before Giza put a stop to it.
Looks like Mosi would be willing to join Faida though.

I have to ask you a serious question, comic artist to comic artist. I don't know if you'll see this or get a chance to respond, but I will try.
First off, Chakra and Africa are WAAAYYY better than my own, and you've clearly put a lot of effort into studying animal anatomy. However, I have a question about your backgrounds. I'm not looking to copy them or anything! But I feel like I put too much effort into the backgrounds of my panels rather than trying to focus on the characters themselves. How do you do it? How do you make the backgrounds seem so simple yet also pop out to clearly define where the characters is/are? Do you have any recommendations for how to best approach a problem like that??

Backgrounds are in general difficult, and I can't really offer any advice as to how to make it easier... but from what I've seen on your comic so far, you're doing a great job! I can tell that you put a lot of work into it, and that's something to appreciate.
The story and characters also seem really interesting, as well! Keep up the good work!

I do put plenty of time and effort in my comic. Just the backgrounds alone can be a challenge. I look at various pages and panels and use the angles to match the backgrounds to the best of my ability. It's sometimes a pain in the arse, but it can be worth it.

Probably something with colors/gradients, but what make the characters stand out are the lines. If the character is close, they're thicker. If it's far away, the lines are thinner. I remember her mentioning that somewhere in her gallery, maybe that's why the background seem simple.

My guess Faida is thinking of humans and Chui's tracking collar. Not only do scientists capture and monitor the wildlife, but there are poachers, and then salt mining and urban development going on. Faida's guesses of us being the "end of the world" are probably not far off the more thought about it.
