She commissioned us together and I am living for it. We are drawing in the sand with our mer-kitties! (I miss mine dearly) I really enjoyed working on this and the colors are so pretty.

An illustration of the Art Siren and her friend Aurora (@/icewolf103 on IG) on another play date with their best little pals. They will sometimes meet up and lounge on the beach, drawing pictures in the sand and finding them in the clouds.
Mercats are rarer than mermaids. They aren’t born, they’re made. When a mermaid bonds with a cat, the kitty gains part of her soul, thus changing shape and becoming part of their world. They say that cats with souls can wait at the gates for their owners.
I totally made this up for my own lore. I actually don’t know if there is any official myth behind the hybrid fish cats. Tell me in the comments if you know more about them!
I love this piece so much for so many reasons. The moon and stars mean something special to both Aurora and I for different reasons. It’s so cute!
Shout out to my girls Kitty and Luna. I think about them every day. I can’t wait to see you two again!
