Totally. Though I see how Elyon could fall for his human disguise. He is quite handsome, self-secure and - not to stereotype - she is a 14-year old girl. But she's awesome.
Sorry to jump topics though I love WITCH, but have you ever heard of Antti Martikainen? He makes, among other genres, Epic music. He's on Youtube. Warmest recommendations.

Because He's Elyon's only son.
Elyon doesn't have any daughters and there aren't any more female Escanors, so Dante is the next in line to rule for now.

I think Dante would be even scarier than Phobos if he became evil, just because he's actually a good person who is justifying his wrong doing with revenge, and because he thinks he's doing the right thing. As opposed to Phobos who's evil and knows it and is proud of it.

Arts-Of-Metamoor In reply to tara-fairy [2016-06-26 04:08:32 +0000 UTC]
Dante would probably be scarier because he would be a lot more serious, Phobos has that sarcastic mocking personality going on, Dante would be silent and ruthless.
I agree that Dante has a Kind nature contrasting Phobos's proud spirit, but I don't think that Phobos was born Evil, being a male heir in Meridian is complicated, they are not as important as female heirs and are not given any real chances to prove themselves. I believe Phobos also had his share of struggles before reaching his breaking point.

Oh my God dear! You have no idea what you've done or how amazing this is! First and foremost I am honored my small story inspired you so much as to make such a wonderful picture yet alone your first photoshop picture especially now that it is (like I said) so amazing as this!
I honestly don't know how to thank you for this and I don't even know how to start! I am always honored
when people get inspired by my ideas yet alone such talented artists such as yourself. What can I say? I am really touched by your
mention in this one also by the fact you give a link for my picture! Thank you so much!
Now to speak of the picture. Oh, what to say of this?! It is amazing no matter how you look at it! Okay I guess I can give it a try!
First of all the environment/background is amazing. I really like it how you made it simple, dark and elegant. It is like living in a dark cell or something like the cells Phobos was locked in, in the anime (and in my story). It resembles when their first meeting happened in my story.
Phobos and Dante look amazing! Like the reflection of the mirror one another. It is sometimes hard to tell who is who! Phobos' triumphant smirk vs Dante's tormented look! Oh, God!
Phobos' long sleeves look simply amazing! They look like hugging Dante protectively and at the same time it is as if they are trapping him, keeping him there forever into their grasp that looks like it is getting tighter and tighter around poor little (well not so little ) one! It kind of resembles to me of Dante's mother's stomach. Is like Phobos "giving birth" to Dante once more with the dark meaning of the word.
Is like the "old Dante" being strangled to death to give his place to the new Dante, the Dante with hatred towards the others for what they did to him and at the same time filled with guilt for such thoughts creeping into his mind!
Dante's eyebrows are knitted together as if in hatred towards everyone, as if ready to crush anyone in his way! Also the energy in his hand is ready to fire away anytime now. The enegry kind of has the same color as the prison's bars, Phobos was behind from, a few seconds ago. It is like pointing out both the freeing of his uncle and the true potential of his magical power.
Also the fact that you made Dante wear dark clothes so much like his uncle's is also another thing that "bothers me" (in the best way of course ). It could mean that now Dante is fully under Phobos' influence. As if he has taken in all his words and all his truth and is ready to follow him. The fact that he is drawn in front of Phobos while having this look on the face AND the energy in his hand, could also be a sign that Dante is ready to...protect his uncle even by using his body as a seal to do so. Goodness! Poor baby!
However despite all the above, Dante's eyes are teary. No, not just teary. Tears are cascading from his eyes freely onto his cheeks. This could be a symbol that something inside Dante is struggling. Something inside him is resisting. Something inside him remembers, Something inside him is feeling guilt for what happened (or what that is about to come) which is such an amazing detail!
I love it how you made their hair wave almost in perfect harmony and even their body stances look similar! Indeed like the reflection of one another and at the same time so different from each other!
Even their stances are kind of different. Phobos has this triumphantic stance and also this grin to his face like he's ready to "get rid" of Dante once he has served his purpose, in other words help him get the throne of Meridian once more.
Also it is amazing how you used once more clothes that resemble those Phobos had in the anime. Dante looks also determined in body, hesitant or better regretful at soul. I think this is the most important part of your picture when you think about it.
This is simply AMAZING! There's nothing left for me to say! Honestly I don't know how to thank you dear! This is the second time you honor me like this with the first being your suggestion that you have thoughts making a small comic about my other small story! Thank you so much once more for making my day like this!

Oh Thank you so much for your lovely comment hon, I'm so happy you liked this!!
Like I've already told you, your ideas and lovely stories are a main source of inspiration for me, especially for Dante's character development You don't need to thank me at all, I loved doing this, your writing is awesome and everyone should check out your work!
Thank you hon, although I didn't put much effort on the Background, I just made a little shadow effect, but I did try to keep it dark having Phobos's prison in mind and it's atmosphere.
I'm glad you think they look alike, I think Phobos's face came a little too round maybe, Yup Phobos is having the time of his life, the big asshole Having Dante in his grasp, not even the Queen will dare to oppose him now. (Also I'm sorry for Phobos's hair going-up-all-over-the-place Manga look, I know you don't like it but It felt like it would help showing the immensity of grasp over Dante )
I like your concept of Phobos "giving birth" to this "new Dante" like he's proudly showing his creation to the world! Yes, that's how I think Phobos would try to manipulate him, slowly filling his mind with poisonous thoughts, little by little, Dante almost giving in to them but also overwhelmed with guilt and His kind nature struggling within him.
Dante is indeed at his breaking point, He's pretty much exhausted from everything and everyone...
I didn't realize Dante's energy here has the same color as the prison's bars, that's cool I like to think that this energy isn't Dante's true inner power, it's more lent to him by Phobos. I think that if Dante unleashed his true power it would have a light blue color (Don't know why Maybe it would look purer).
Exactly and I bet Phobos is actually planning to use poor Dante as a human shield, especially against Elyon ...
I like to think that even if he takes Phobos words as true and follows him, he will always remember, he will always feel and he will always care, his nature is just like that... And if Dante gets the revenge he believes he wants he will be torturing himself more than anyone else, even if he only realizes that in the end...
Thank you I really wanted to show how they are so alike but at the same time so different...
But who knows... maybe the fact that they are both so "alike" will change something in Phobos as well, after all Dante is the only other one who truly understands what it's like to be born a male Escanor...
I'm truly so happy you like this
Oh That comic is still on the way Stay tuned hehe

Phobos may be my favorite villain from Witch and I know we talked about the whole Will/Phobos and all that.... BUT HE BETTER LEAVE THAT SWEET GUY ALONE!!! You had your chance, pal, and failed. So scram!!!
Yeah, Dante is one of my favorite characters that you created. He is just such a lovely guy and I imagine the people of Meridian would have trouble accepting ANY boy Elyon gave birth to, considering what happened with Phobos. Considering how Dante looks like him (well, how could he not? Phobos and Elyon could be twins if it wasn't for the age difference!) it is salt to the injury.
I so love this pic! While I hope this never happens to Dante, it would also be VERY interesting to see a sort of AU where is has given in to evil (I imagine it would be sort of "if they fear I'm alike Phobos, then I'll show them... I'll be worse then he ever was"). And I wouldn't blame him, people have a limit of how much they can take.
Damn, I love this. Dante looks hot no matter how. And he seems so sorrowful, but so angry at the same time. Phobos behind him with his cape involving Dante is great too!!!!

hahaha You know good old Phobos never quits Dante would make the perfect tool, He's the sole heir to Meridian and can be used as a shield against Elyon.
I'm so glad you like my big sad cinnamon roll
I think the people of Meridian would have trouble accepting any boy ANY Queen gave birth to, It seems male heirs were not that important and weren't given any real chances. They were probably just simple court members or "trophy husbands" for other royals... which might explain Phobos assholeness, his childhood was probably not the best either...
But yes the fact that Dante looks like his uncle only made things a lot worse. Exactly Phobos and Elyon are so alike it hurts
thank you so much hon I'm not sure If this will happen in my story, but I'm planning to include Phobos, and Him trying to manipulate Dante... Will He succeed? Let's hope not ...NO DANTE! I KNOW HE'S FABULOUS, BUT DON'T LISTEN TO HIM BABY!! ( Or maybe Dante will change Phobos instead... who knows ... ). I'm also planning to explore what Phobos's past was like, and how He ended up being his current lovely self.
Yes, that's exactly what I was going for with this drawing, Dante's breaking point when he is just so exhausted from it all that decides to give them the monster they all wanted him to be.
I'm so very happy you like dear, Thank you so much!!

Well, he has perseverance, you can't deny it! Yeah, it would hurt his sister, and her friends and... Yeah, pretty much covers the Evil Villain thing.
I love this guy, I really go all fangirl on him! He is adorable! (And I always liked the name Dante too!).
Well, that I don't know. Elyon's mother seemed lovely and kind and I don't see how a mother wouldn't love her child regardless of such things, but we never had time or info enough, so this is a possibility. I honestly don't believe people are born evil (except psychopaths, but this is another story) and characters like that can be kinda lame if they're not done correctly. So maybe Phobos did have reasons that pushed him to this path, it makes him more interesting than just power-hungry.
They are, right? Gosh, they could be TWINS!
YAAAY, we get to see His Majesty, prince Phobos!!! I... I mean... -coughcough- He will be there? Oh, I bet the guardians will kick his ass and... I'm totally not hoping for some foeyay or whatever it is between him and Will, I mean, who? Moi? No, no...
Dante is a lovely person, I believe he could change Phobos. He has friends and a family who loves him, perhaps if Phobos for to feel what he never had... Speaking like this it sounds too much like "power of love heals all", but I mean slowly and overtime, finding happiness in something he always despised may surprise him.
No, Dante! Come to the light, baby! Come to the light, remember Wilma!!! And remember your hair is even better than your uncle's! Don't listen, he is a power-hungry leech who tried to kill your mother, that evil, arrogant, self-centered, hot, sexy, gorgeous, dark charisma gifted.... -drooling- Sorry, what I was talking about again?
You did it perfectly, it really feels like this. Anger, but also sorrow and a feeling of being trapped. Phobos may not be there physically or even as a ghost trying to possess him, but his "legacy" is there and this is what is trapping Dante, a past that it is not even his, but of the people of Meridian.

Oh my God this comment is almost a year old i'm so sorry!!
Phobos perseverance also puzzles me... why does he insist so much?... Yeah sure he is power hungry but why ?? What made him become that way? I think we are missing a big hidden story here...
Hehe Thank you so much!
See that's another thing... she does look lovely and kind, but at the same time I can't help but feel that something is a bit off about Queen Weira... I don't think she was at all evil or that she dislikes Phobos, but I don't think she was a good mother either.
When she appear to Elyon in her ghost form, Elyon called Phobos "evil" and queen Weira was quick to correct her saying something along the lines of " Phobos is weak\sick and you must take care of him because he is your only family now." Now this might just sound like the words of a caring mother but I couldn't help but feel a pinch of guilt in her tone... like she knows something we don't... like she knows she is in some way responsible for Phobos' state, and wants Elyon to atone for her own mistake...
This is what I came up for my headcanon: Phobos was born and Queen Weira was instantly in love with her little one, However a male son was not acceptable according to the laws of the land. It was the the duty of the Light of Meridian to produce another Queen and not to concern herself with sons... The prince would be taken care of by a servant like all of the other male heirs and grow up to be a member of the court and eventually be married off to a noblewoman at the highest bidding... Weira was not happy about this as she, like I said, loved her son however she complied. In other words she put her duties as Queen over her duties as a mother. Phobos was given to a maid who raised him ( I'll introduce this maid as an OC really soon ) .
This could have ended here, but something unexpected happened, during his late teens (when Elyon was already born and was a small baby) Phobos started to develop magical abilities and pretty powerful ones too. In my story males using magic in Meridian is seen as a big taboo... they are seen as wicked, unholy and abominations, and only women like their Queen are allowed to do such practices. This is due to an old myth that stated that men were too weak-minded to handle magic, and thus it would corrupt them and make them go insane and dangerous.
When a man was caught practicing magic he was normally just killed, but a royal like Phobos would have the "privilege" of being "purified" instead... which meant that his energy core (his spirit) would have to be slit open to form a "wound" or "Hole" in which his energy would be constantly leaking out, making him unable to use his powers. Imagine it's like a hole in a bottom of a bucket, no matter how much you fill it up with water the bucket is always gonna be empty because the water will be always leaking out trough the hole. So its an eternal wound in his soul constantly leaking all of his energy.
As you imagine this "privilege" was no privilege at all, and even death would probably be more merciful than this kind of suffering, to have a hole in your soul. In fact most of the royals who went trough this "purification" performed by the Light of Meridian herself, died right after unable to bear the tremendous pain or went insane and died after some agonising days.
When the maid who raised Phobos and his father (Queen Weira's husband, the royal Consort Zaden) discovered Phobos could use magic, they tried to hide it to save him, but alas, they wore found out.
Consort Zaden was killed when trying to stop Phobos' "purification". and Phobos soul was slit open by his own Mother. In Queen Weira's defence she genuinely though she was helping him, and only realised her mistake when the damaged was done.
Miraculously Phobos survived the Purification and agonising pain, but something changed in him. He became emotionless... unfeeling...uncaring... soulless.
It was the beginning of his descend to become Meridian's worst nightmare... for he would make them all feel the emptiness he felt...
This is mainly what I got for Phobos' relationship and past with his mother I think Queen Weira regretted her action but it simply was too late.
I also think that this could be the reason why Phobos absorbed the energy of the planet... as a way to feel whole and block the hole in his soul... tho it didn't really work. He only managed to boost his powers for a short amount of time because, again, the energy would always be leaking out. That's way he always needed to absorb more and was always power hungry.
Phobos will surly make an appearance in my comic, and maybe we'll get to see some development in his part...
Maybe Dante can touch Phobos indeed who know After all Dante, being a male Escanor himself, understands Phobos better than anybody... tho changing a man with a slitted soul will be definitely difficult, he might need some help.
Hahaha Yes! Do it for Wilma baby! But I can't lie their hairs are equally fabulous
Hahaha your were talking about our favourite fabulous tyrant of course!
Oh thats a really interesting analysis! I love to see how people interpret my drawings I really liked your point of view!
Thank you so much my dear!! You flatter me so!

I have no words to say HOW amazing this was! I'm literally speechless here!!! Yeah, I agree. And while he was always saying he wanted to break the Wall (Or Veil, I dunno how they called that in English) was to be free. But other than that, if you think about it, he never said what he planned to do afterwards. So... Yeah, like Naraku when he got the damn Jewel, he even admitted he had no freaking idea of what to do then.
Hmmm... Yeah, I did sense that there was something about it (her name is Weira? It says on the comics on in the cartoon?). I always believed Phobos had killed her and his father and I felt that she still loved him.
I really adored that headcannon! It makes so much sense. And it made me pity the guy... He probably saw other children with their mothers and wondered why his mother didn't care for him (even if she did, children can have those thoughts)... Considering the age difference between Elyon and Phobos (I'm not sure if the comics specified his age, but he seemed to be nineteen, perhaps even twenties), the people of Meridian probably grew to dislike him due to the anxiety of waiting for a female heir.
I have to say... Your view of how males with powers can be seen as abominations is FREAKING. BRILLIANT! It makes me think about how, in the Dark Ages, women were considered witches. While men could be seen as wise or even blessed. So this change is very interesting. Plus, there is the connection of women being symbols of purity, so perhaps they believed that a male heir with powers meant his powers weren't pure (the old "night-related magic must be evil" thing).
The fact that this belief is based on a myth is also a powerful element. It adds to the culture and richness of the story and now I'm going full fangirl here!
And this practice of making a Wound? That enters the "soul raping" territory. Oh, GOD! Nightmare fuel at level 100 here! Plus, this CAN'T be at all pleasant or painless. Jesus... I would be as messed up as he is if that happened to me. Perhaps he even believed his mother would be proud to know he had those powers, only to it to turn out like this...
...
Congratulations, you make this guy someone we relate and feel sorry for. Next thing you know, we will all want to give him a hug (He would probably stare at me with a "Don't you dare" look and if I managed to hug him, I would probably be dead 1 second later). This guy could give Gaara a run for his money with family issues.
I think Weira truly loved him, but didn't know how to handle such a situation. Her royal advisors also may have insisted on this practice and she thought that her people would accept Phobos better if she "healed" him (since Elyon was already born and there was no more pressure for a "true" heir).
That I'm not sure as I can't remember the comics stating he *needed* to keep absorbing power (forgive me, it has been years since I read it), but it is an interesting view. Or perhaps he became addicted to it or even paranoid (I wouldn't be surprised if he had some loose screws after all this hell).
YES!!!! YES! YEEES! -Runs around like a mad woman- OH, YEEEAAAH! AMAZING!!! THAT IS GREAAAT! UHHHHUUUUU!!!!
*Sits down calm again*
I shall wait with patience and grace.
Like I said, it would be interesting. Both paths are: Either Dante falls or Phobos gets a redemption. I can't even say which one I would like to see best (I like BOTH VERSIONS!!!!).
You're telling ME? Those two have a hair that's better-looking than mine! -Points at Dante and Phobos- Tell us your secret for fabulous hair! (I could be asking for spells, magic knowledge or whatever, but hey, I'm just asking for a simple, small, little thing).
...
Suddenly I had this image of someone trying to cut Phobos' hair and he just giving a death glare XD
Oh, yes. Like I said, Dante is far too good and shouldn't listen to that bastard, conceited, evil, hot-as-hell, seductive... -Pauses- He just shouldn't listen.
Haha, I really enjoy analyzing, seeing those possible interpretations. The fact that he looks so much like Phobos and how the people of Meridian see him, it does feel like a ghost haunting him even if he has done nothing wrong.
You. Are. The. BEST!
