Fire fire!

So named, not because that’s actual fire behind him (I just hadn’t done an orange background yet), but because it ended up LOOKING so much like fire that the Steam Powered Giraffe song of the same name was running on continuous loop through my head as I painted it.

Naw, his unchanging metal face is too happy for it to be actual fire!

Thank you!

I'm undecided on whether or not I like that song. It's awfully dark. I mean, we don't even get to hear about this guy's heroic life before we hear about his death!

True! Though that song feels like a time bubble to me, like everything's happening in slow motion, and so it brings a peaceful note to that darkness. If that makes sense

It definitely conveys that sense, you're right.

Still, a beautiful song

How do you get the watercolors to cooperate? Do you use removable tape or something to keep the orange from contaminating the grey areas?

No, I don't have any tape or masking fluid (though I'd love to experiment with it some day). I just brush the water on first, being very careful about keeping certain areas dry, and then dab in the paint and let it spread itself throughout the water.

Huh, I was thinking of this song until I saw the link in your description: [link] But more SPG is always good!

Ah, now I have another fire-themed song to loop endlessly through my head! This one's not quite so morbid from what I can make out though.
