Robot Bookmark number eight.Fire fire!
So named, not because thatβs actual fire behind him (I just hadnβt done an orange background yet), but because it ended up LOOKING so much like fire that the Steam Powered Giraffe song of the same name was running on continuous loop through my head as I painted it.
Naw, his unchanging metal face is too happy for it to be actual fire!

How do you get the watercolors to cooperate? Do you use removable tape or something to keep the orange from contaminating the grey areas?

No, I don't have any tape or masking fluid (though I'd love to experiment with it some day). I just brush the water on first, being very careful about keeping certain areas dry, and then dab in the paint and let it spread itself throughout the water.
