Okay, really tried to make her as dark as I possibly could this time while still retaining some amount of detail. xD{(hopefully) more lore-adherent version of Viconia

I don't think the skin is too dark at all. Depending on what you consider canon, Drow are supposed to be jet black to dark brown.

I'm thinking about how the portrait is going to look in game. It will be resized and resolution of the smallest version is 38x60 - then that dark skin with little details (because of the hue / skin colour + shadow), it may turn into one black blob. Some players may still want to see lines of her face etc 
(still love the portrait, I'm just keeping the usability in mind)

As an avatar, you may have to lighten it, as an artistic rendering of the essence of Vicky, I would leave it as is.

you know... I actually have this idea--to consciously consider the lighting and coloring and such (ie, have a plan)--BEFORE I start randomly painting things.
...We'll just see how that goes.

Now this is one hot piece of drow, I must admit! ^^ Imo, I like this version better, Viccy looks a lot more... noble here.
On the side note: I totally blame you for showing me that chalk brush... it made me paint again. Or my, this is gonna go baaaad.

It's so hard for me to have more than one goal at a time when I paint, since it feels like I get sidetracked, hahaa... but this one I was mostly focusing on making her skin suitably dark, and then the expression/attitude was sort of an afterthought, so I'm glad that part works, too!! I was kind of worried it wouldn't really look/feel like her--but I didn't really consider that until near the end, lol.
I am having so much fun with my new brushes. x3 They really can help give you a nice, loose/sketchy feeling without looking sloppy and under-done, like the standard brushes would. So in theory, I think they could save a lot of time, too. Good luck!! ^^

Yeah I'm starting to get a whole pile of touch-ups I need to do... which is the least fun part for me, so I keep allowing myself to get distracted. Seriously, it's easier for me to start something new than go back and add detail IDK??!
