Taken for national youth week for SnapIT ofI think Danica summed it up very nicely. To quote:
Kiri's idea was that a smile isn't always a smile. That some of us wear smiles as masks so we don't have to explain ourselves to people.
This was a great shoot and I'm really happy with the end product. This is the most raw image I've ever been in and I'm glad Kiri convinced me to be a clown for an afternoon.

This is still my favorite piece of artwork from you, I love it... all the emotions behind it, and the interesting thoughts that it provokes. Recently I have been finding more music of a music group that I love "And One" and one of their songs I have come across is called "Beauty Clown" and thinking of this photograph I imagine it being the very perfect picture for the song especialy how he sings "she is a beauty clown" and the foreign emotions that the song itself also gives me. So I am leaving you another comment just to thank you for sharing art that has thought, meaning and tallent~

the concept behind this is so true. and the shot is great. i have used the mask of a smile many times in poems and i supposed i must admit that i used to wear the mask myself a lot. but when you are such a good friend as my friends seem to think i am, people tell you things...they tell you about their masks and their secrets. and not all of them are smiles even. sometimes you'll shoot someone down so that you dont have to explain your secret joy. i really like the portrayal as a clown. never thought of that. and i love danica's expression. it's a powerful piece and it deserved the DD, great job. sorry for the long comment, i just love this concept and seeing all the different portrayals and views on it. excelent, again. ^-^

This really reminds me of my friend's poem Masks Which I think is the written equivalent of what you're trying to show.

I think that's true, and that unfortunately most people have at leats once in their life flashed a smile so they wouldn't have to share their feelinsg with others. I also think you chose a great way of portraying this. I enjoyed this photo a lot. Bravo
