Thoughts:
What properties would our bodies need to have in order to traverse intense environments - such as a magma lake?
Enhancements like this seem amazing - why didn't we evolve defensive capabilities like this if they'd be so useful.
The answer lies in evolutionary dead-ends. The body will never adapt to become worse in order to get better later, even if the end result is tremendous. Evolution can only ever ben linear.
