Description A feverish pace quickens the scene
And the apoplexy has fallen into disuse
I see an old rocking chair
in a dusty attic
Nobody will ever see again
It is a child’s chair
it is too small for me

Spiders and cobwebs cover me and you
And I smile and you wave
but you flail, you do not wave
you are not happy to be here
unlike me,
For perhaps I am the spider?

The urges come unbidden to my mind,
just as they flood yours
I want to hit you
I want to live you and breathe you
and now I want nothing of you
The roulette has stopped

You are a toy soldier and you are alone
You were the tin soldier in the child’s hand
the one who beat all the others at war
when they were your enemies
Your friends are all broken,
the child’s hand smashing you into them

You are alone,
except for me and these spiders
and this too-small rocking chair
You cry for help
I smile

No help will come for
the last tin soldier
who played too rough and is alone
Tin becomes soft as flesh to the teeth
or was it always skin?
Now it is cold and I smile
