Yazoo was the third brother of Sephiroth's family of four, which includes Sephiroth, Loz, himself and Kadaj, the youngest. Together with Loz, he is one of the higher-ranking soldiers in the forefront of Adventia's military forces and both of them were a few steps closer to becoming Generals, like their eldest brother Sephiroth. Yazoo was well-known, like the rest of his family, for being left handed - although he was more so known for being the most ambidextrous of them, as he wielded two gun blades forged of silver and gold. Yazoo was also known for his soft, feminine-like looks and gentle voice and often was mistaken to be a young woman, and while this was usually much of the subject of ridicule from the lower-ranking soldiers, their jeers were often silenced by the display of his prowess in battle.

Loz and Yazoo had fought in the front lines of the Firefields War, despite protests from their eldest brother. Sephiroth, being the General, could not intervene with his superiors when they decided to send them to the front lines during the the Firefields War, and this did not faze them one bit - Yazoo had a strong sense of responsibility for his Kingdom and the Princess, and while he would not admit it, he had secretly fallen for one of Sephiroth's colleagues and wanted to be close to her so he could protect her: a vampiress known as Lightning Farron. Yazoo accomplished what he sought for - he had died protecting Lightning from the enemy's strike. His death and Loz's had left Sephiroth and Kadaj heartbroken.
