Description   This is very late on deviant art, I know
The Tiger 2, The Königstiger, The Royal Tiger, The King Tiger(this thing had a lot of different names) Was a late war tank that has become the face of German armor in the last months of WW2 in Europe.
I often see the Tiger 2 being written off as a joke, with all of the love going to the Tiger 1. I however, am here to defend the Tiger 2. A great but rushed design put into action when it was already far too late for Germany. We see this with the nature of the battles the tiger 2 fought, operation spring awakening, the battle of the bulge, and the battle of Berlin to make three. All of these like the tiger 2 were last ditch efforts.
I also want to point out that specifications wise, this thing had 7 inches of frontal armor(that was never penetrated), weighed almost 70 tons and I don't need to tell you about the main gun. You can already see the issue here! Today a tank weighing 70 tons is nothing, but think of a tank weighing 70 tons back in late 1944 and 45, the amount of fuel and resources needed to produce and operate a tank like this by a country that was already extremely low on them(and around 480 were built). It's no wonder that the stories of these tanks being abandoned without fuel in Belgium and Luxembourg have become the main memory of the tiger 2.  I can respect the tiger 2 for what it was, a still decently designed last-ditch effort, that despite all the stories of its mechanical and operational problems, still made a name for itself.
Also, the OTHER christmas drawing isn't done yet, I decided to redo it.
And the lineart is on instagram, chaps!  www.instagram.com/picture_panz…

It just like you said: Its an expensive rush-job last-ditch tank fielded by a country that strapped on resources that it diminishing it potential.

Here comes one true beast. This thing never stops to amaze me. It's such a powerful tank, with such a neat design, I love it so much. Germany truly knows how to make a tank. And you drew it perfectly!

Very nice King Tiger.

There is a Jadgtiger tank destroyer that use to be on display at Aberdeen Maryland. (They’ve been moved to Fort Lee after Aberdeen was closed.)
It was knocked out by a single Sherman.

A lucky shot hit the collar around the barrel. This jammed the barrel preventing it from recoiling. The gun could only be reloaded by recoil which opened the breech. It had no manual operation.
A slight oversight.

Despite the problems the tank got, I still love it.

The scope on the STG44 looks a abit small.
