Description The group is doing a contest for the month of May where we were to make a "set" of dolls, (anywhere from 2 to 12 total) and the nature of that "set" was up to us.

For mine, I decided to do a representation of the Sun's journey across the sky, starting with the far right as "Sunrise", the center as "Midday" and the far left as "Sunset".

Sunrise - When I was making this one, I was thinking of how the sun's appearance in the sky drives back the stars and other lesser lights, so the upper half of her outfit signifies the retreating night, with the Morning Star being the last to vanish.  I made her appearance more youthful than the others since she signifies the birth of a new day.

Midday - When making this one, I was mostly thinking of the Sun itself, at it's height of glory, so it's a bit more abstract than the other two, and I focused mostly on yellow and gold colors, with a few hints of sky blue to signify the sky on a beautiful day.  I tried to make her appear a bit older than Sunrise, but still appear to be a bit on the young side, like a late teenager.

Sunset - When making Sunset, I wanted to be sure to make her distinctly different from Sunrise, especially since, when I was looking up pictures for both, I quickly found out that a lot of times you'll see the same sort of colors at Sunrise as Sunset. So, for her's I made it so that the sun has just recently set behind a mountain range, so we have more of the darker pinks and intense colors than with Sunrise.  I also put more stars on her outfit, having them speckled across the back of her cloak and the caplet.  I tried to make her look more mature than the other two and gave her darker colors in general.

okay, so with the snow queen scene maker, you on the elsa body type there are some bigger dresses... well one I'm using for something fun ... I'm adding a lot of sparke .. (or dots, not sure yet what I'm calling it) well part of the dress goes into the menu and I cant add sparkle to that... how do you do it

Arimus79 In reply to allyvania88 [2016-06-02 06:41:29 +0000 UTC]

I know what you mean, and you can't actually add sparkle to the dress itself once it's into the menu. The way I managed to put some on the end of her cloak for "Sunset" was I actually put the sparkles down next to the "Midday" girl, after I figured out where everything was going to be positioned.  It took a lot of trial and error, but that's about the only way I've figured out how to do it. So, if you have more than one doll in your picture, you can do things like that where they'll overlap.

What did you do for the drag and drops for "sunset" and how did you get the sky to look so damn good?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Arimus79 In reply to Athena126 [2016-05-30 23:42:53 +0000 UTC]

Um, for the mountains, I first lined the bottom hemline with the small round orbs in black, then the somewhat larger orbs also in black. Then for the mountain shapes, I used black flowers to form the shapes I wanted, then went over them with the black orbs at half transparency to help mask the fact that they're a bunch of flowers. *LOL* For the sky.. yeah. For "Sunrise" I started at her waistline and worked my way down, placing the larger round orbs one color gradient at a time. The trick to blending them was, I would do one row, then after doing the next row in a shade lighter, I'd then use that same shade again at the lightest transparency setting to go between where the two rows met, and it helped a lot with blending. With the Sunset one, I started at the bottom and worked my way upwards, but used the same technique with blending. Then, after I'd filled in with the gradient shades, I used the fuzzy "S" shapes in various shades to form the clouds. Overall, it really felt a lot like actual painting.
