This looks amazing! I'm reading your fanfiction, and it's wonderful, too. You're a really good writer and artist.

wow this is really good. I love pencil work. The expression on Gandalf's face is done well. Awesome job!

You see, before I started up with my tablet, I had kind of gotten to an impasse - I could copy anything, but whenever I tried doing something without a reference, it looked OBVIOUSLY crappy when compared to the stuff I had referenced. I stopped drawing for a long time because I was so dissatisfied with my progress, but the tablet has definitely lured me back in! I'm seeing progress again and that is the most rewarding thing of all.

yeah. It is a little discouraging because my lines are so much better in my pencil sketches and then I trace them with the tablet and it looks like crap. But it is so much easier for me to do it like that for now because I cannot draw something straight onto the tablet. (Except for the little Winry chibi, i freehanded that lol)

But yeah, I will definitely keep at it. Thanks for all your encouraging advice. I am glad there are still people on dA like me who support the less amazing artist. This has become too much of a popularity contest I am afraid. I just like getting feed back so I can improve.

Well, I haven't been here long and don't really have more than a couple of acquaintances on the site so I don't know about any popularity contests. I just like to comment on stuff I like and thank people when they comment on mine.

yeah. Well I have been on here for 5 years (this screen name is new I also have a photography one) and I used to get way more input. I guess there is just so many people on here that it is hard to comment all the time. There are actually groups that are devoted to commenting and giving people critique who want it because usually when someone likes a piece they just fav it and that's it.

I don't know just something that bother's me. Like people who don't know how to use round abouts lol.

Well, people get busy, I can understand that. And some people here are looking to make money off this stuff - they probably don't have time to talk to people. I'm just an amateur playing around so I don't mind talking to people if they'll talk back.

In the book (and I am a bit of a canon purist) there is nothing that says Gandalf didn't carry him on Gwaihir's back rather than letting the bird carry him in his talons. I always thought, because he had been largely responsible for their fate, he would at least want to know how they fared. Since we're swapping fanfics - and thank you for that link! - I know what I'm doing over coffe this morning - I'll provide you with the link to the fic I drew this for. It's LOTR, of course, and my most widely read and praised so I hope there is something to recommend it.

I wanted to see this scene so much that, when Mr. Jackson didn't provide it, I figured I should. It was the illustration for my own strictly canon gapfiller fanfic of the same name. The story has won many awards and is the one I get the most compliments for. I have been told I managed to match the professor's 'voice' in that section of the book very well, though I would perfectly understand if you are not interested. Many people who like to keep the original work pristine in their minds don't read fanfiction. I'm much the same - though I appreciate works that stay strictly to canon. Let me know if I can provide you with a link.

I wanted to see it as well! I did go and read a portion of it, it was fantastic! I really couldn't tell the difference between your writing and Tolkien's! It was so beautiful! I enjoy fanfiction as well, and like playing around with the Hobbit wives, mostly Estella Brandybuck!

You have good taste! I love writting about the cannon couples of LOTR and even have one about Merry aand Estella. I'm so glad you liked the story.

You know, when the movies came out, I was so dying to see just this scene - and when I didn't quite get it, I knew I would have to just draw it myself. At least Mr. Jackson gave us good representations of the characters from which to draw from, eh?

Thank you! I couldn't imagine a Maiar feeling any other way about such a (relatively) ephemeral creature as a hobbit. Glad you liked it.
