Great atmosphere, lighting and costume design.
Much too often, in american movies and roleplaying games, there are spells or other elements to resurrect the dead. In a good way, not to make zombies, but revive them.
Which makes dying no sacrifice. Bah.
A situation like your picture here is much more interesting.

i recently managed to free some time to clear my deviant watch list (250 deviations to view after a 2 month haitus) this piece was clinging down in the last few deviations.
i had kept this piece in my watch list because i really wanted to comment on it, but i dont believe in comments like "...wow" i generally try to be at least somewhat constructive.
i looked at it, over and over but i could never come up with anything to say. what it boils down to is "...wow"
watercolor is probably my favorite media to work with. you handle it completely different than i. im to impatient to do glaze after glaze. i dont use care and think out my brush strokes. i just slap it on there and let it work its own magic. i enjoy the total sporadic unexpected nature of the medium. BUT i am in love with people that can sit there and take the time to be so tight with it. you are able to take away all of that looseness, you remove the freewill of the paint. normally this is a bad thing, but you pull it off brilliantly.
you are a skilled draftsman (would it be pc to say draftswoman?), and your ability to tell an entire story in one image is unmatched. all of your works are illustrative in the best way possible.
i dont comment much, but i always enjoy your work. thankyou for sharing. and i await further deviations!

Very nice. The colors are solid, their facial expressions are right on, and the windblown hair is perfect. The twisted tree helps to add to the agitated atmosphere.

Truly, wonderful rendering, and with watercolors. OO At first glance I almost guessed another medium, though on closer study it's obviously watercolor. Just a beautiful job overall. Oi.
I've got a lot of work ahead of me... ~_^
