Description
An Eldar craftworld preparing for war. Drawn using Adobe Photoshop CS3 and a Wacom Cintiq 12WX. Took a long time to finish and I used about 50 layers in the process!I was inspired to create this piece after seeing the fantastic artwork in the Apocalypse rulebook showing hundreds of ranks of Space Marines.

awesome drawing, but i think linear parade pattern looks too blnt for Eldar
imo, they should be arrayed in some complex pattern, reminiscent of theyr runes perhaps

*picks up jaw from floor* wow....just wow. ive seen alot of 40k art here and this is easily one of my most favorites, despite the fact that this has eldar and i swear loyalties to the Dark Gods. just the whole scale and detail of it and the feeling of that they are gonna open a whole can of hurt on some poor scrub is amazing. How long did this thing take by the way?

Looks really inspiring. I love it, but I must say that it doesn't really fit my idea of the Eldar att war. There's a bit too many of them... still. If it's the entire craftworld at war...
either way, truly epic!

Very nice. You caught the same atmosphere the space marine piece has. Maybe not as grand or as detailed. But thats made by a very professional artist.
You asked for critique and i will try to give some.
First off is the wraith lord heads. I Know how tedious they can be to get right. If you have the actual model you will notice the underside of the helmet is flat and oval shaped. and the top too is flat. If you get these areas right the rest will form naturally.
Try to blur things in the back a bit more to create more depth. The transition in this piece feels a little unnatural. What i mean is that all buildings up to the gate a in detail and then after that they drop dramatically in focus. Maybe 1 more layer of buildings to make the transition a little less hard would be nice.

I agree that the Guardian helmets aren't quite shaped right and that the architecture could look more Eldar-ish; I certainly found it easier to detail the foreground than the background. I think that the Wave Serpents' size isn't too far off though, since you only need to seat 5 to a side and real-life APCs have pretty low ceilings, so it wouldn't be unheard of for the space inside to be a bit cramped.

As far as critiques are concerned:
- the guardians helmets shape is indeed slightly wrong,
- the architecture is too "mechanical" and not "organic" enough IMHO... Looks more Tau-ish in some places than Eldar.
But a fine job anyway...

As you wrote a shameless conceptional rip of the artwork you mentioned, but hell it is fine made, even the background, all eldar design , double fine,tons of details, the only critique/flaw is an issue with the guardian helmets, too coneheaded in the shape (the forehead part is too fleeing, even by cosidering the perspective)

Looks great, though I think I should comment that the wave serpents should be larger to make the 10 soldier transport capacity make sense, or the 5 wraithguard. The game alters the scale for the sake of gameplay, otherwise vehicle transports would be way too big.
