No matters how old are you, you can make it right now, it's nothing hard. Just learn how to do this, and all be right.

The map was a scenebuild. Β All the models and grass are loaded models within SFM.

Really nice work, would you mind if i ask how do you do that grass or if it's just some specific map?
π: 0 β©: 1
argodaemon In reply to janda700 [2013-10-22 19:22:50 +0000 UTC]
All the grass shown is just models loaded in (they are square chunks of grass). Β Depending on the layout of the land, I will either apply them model by model, or use a particle effect with the model that follows the land contour (saves time ^^).

Will you make some particle tutorial too?

Would have been cool if it had an animation - things like the grass, leaves, and RD's hair moving.

I thought about it, just making leaves move on a stationary tree model is... difficult.

VynalDerp In reply to argodaemon [2013-10-15 19:35:59 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I can see what you mean. Though, you could use a tree model that's meant for animation. I'm sure their out there.

what map is this?

argodaemon In reply to g-master-artist [2013-10-15 15:55:20 +0000 UTC]
sfmbox.com/mega-desert/ has a grass field variant included. I placed all the grass and tree models myself, as well as the artificial sun and lighting effects.

Thanks for the map link, bummer about the foliage, I'll find something I'm sure. Rock on!

Yeah, it's probably the most versatile set of maps you can find. If only there were a noonlight and night time versions they would be perfect.
π: 0 β©: 2
argodaemon In reply to Raptor1701 [2013-10-15 21:20:03 +0000 UTC]
Noon is easy to do if you replace the skybox with militia_hdr (if you have CounterStrike Source). Β A night version would be pretty nice, though. Β Not even for just night shots, but having more versatility in lighting even a day scene.

Raptor1701 In reply to argodaemon [2013-10-16 01:35:48 +0000 UTC]
you still get the "sun" to the side, plus the lighting. so you still have to relight. Guess i'm just lazy sometimes. XD
I was thinking we need landmass models, grassland, hills, cliffs (though there are a few of those already), for use in void. I'm no good in hammer, I couldn't even convert the ponyville retexturedΒ map for hdr without screwing up somehow.
