Yup, another piece of Ardwen standing in armor with snow, etc. etc. In many ways I wanted to finish this year by revisiting this Northern Winds old painting and see if I could do better. Not only that, but I wanted to change my technique. So, instead of doing a pencil under-drawing and painting that in Photoshop, I decided to do the entire thing, from scratch, digitally.

Mistakes were made.

Had I this to do over again I most certainly would change things, not least of which would be to start the painting on a much larger scale and plan out the background more before painting. These are all areas I struggle with. Still, if nothing else I've learned from the experience. In addition, I do feel the work shows progress from the older piece, if not as much as I would like. Regardless, as we close out 2014 and move forward, I hope we can all look forward to a year of learning and growth.
