My final 3rd year project, to design an HQ for "The Club Of Rome", an elusive environmental & social innovation group.
The main drives for the project were to create a building that left no physical legacy after its 120 year design life. So there is NO CONCRETE in the whole building, including the foundations, and no waterproofing membranes etc (only natural rubber on the roofs, protected by green/brown roofs comprising excavation waste from the site). ...etc.
The original size of the presentation (on the wall) is 3.6m wide by 1.4m tall.
This is what went on the wall, so where I have booklets hanging down showing concepts etc there are just blank space. However, some bits from the booklet were on the wall at the last interim presentation: [link]
The plans, sections are drawn in AUTOCAD.
The main section in the middle is (on the wall) 2.7m long. It is also autocad printed and "painted" with TEA, yes tea and then rescanned and rendered with materials using DRAWPLUS (like illustrator, but i find it better for work flow).
The fill in all the cut lines on the plans and other sections is a tileable version of a scanned section of the tea staining from the trees in the main section. There are 2 layers of texture which are tiled at different angles and scales, so that you can't see any repetition in the texture. clever huh.
If you like the ground floor plan, it it based on the style of the drawings of "Lake and Flato" an American architect's practice.
The watercolours that you can see are in fact painted over printouts from SKETCHUP to get the detail and accuracy quickly.
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK. All comments , complements, critique and constructive critisism are welcome.
* Precedent images shown at the bottom of the page are either my own photographs, or they are from books/websites. It is impractical to credit them all on the presentation itself. This an educational presentation, not for professional/profitable reproduction.
