Nice work!    I appreciate the unique design (which looks like it feels good in a hand), the double curved stem and the custom stand are also a greattouch.  Nice to see people using their imaginations when it comes to pipe design.

Thanks!! Yes, it feels comfortable in a hand! I think this is an evolution of this pipe I made some time ago! fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net…

A proper wizards pipe!   Must be olive wood- and that's local for you, right?

Yes! It's local, I live in puglia, that is full of wonderful olive trees and my city has the title of "City of olive trees".

That's great!  I'd been thinking of using a piece of local sugar maple, as I think it would be rewarding to harvest and dry the wood from my own land and turn it into something nice.

Nice! You want to make a pipe? I have made few pipes made of european maple, and they smoke well! I don't know why it's not frequently used for pipes.

I'd like to make more, yes!  I did do this one ( fav.me/d891jqr ) earlier this year.  That was Greek briarwood, I believe.  But, since this nice maple is around it seems like a nice opportunity, ideally if I can find and use a burl, as it would have a more interesting (and likely easier to work with) grain than a straight piece.  Even better could be tiger maple, though only one in around 15 sugar maples will have that crazy grain.
