I feel like he's aiming at the more non-sexual definition of lust which is a more general sense of having an intense desire or urge. Meaning the monkey had the urge to see what was in the bag, and couldn't resist, thus committing the sin of Lust. It's not necessarily greed or gluttony because the monkey isn't stealing for personal gain (greed) or drinking all the coffee/eating all the scones (gluttony). Instead it was purely acting on a desire which I think fits Lust the best.
However, the lipstick is still a little nod to the sexual nature of lust.

I like the concept very much, and of course the implementation (not sure if it is the right word, I do not know which word is the best for "executing" a concept into art) is very good.
