Haha okay, I am extremely happy that child-Hope is back in LR—I actually prefer XIII Hope’s design, even though I like XIII-2 Hope’s personality more, so for a long time I’ve wished that there were a way to combine them, and it sounds like this is exactly what’s happened in the new game. As far as shipping goes, I think there’s a decent chance he’ll age back at some point before the end of the game, and even if not, there are always alternate-universe scenarios.

Also, that Cloud costume for Lightning is now official . Consider my day MADE.

owww, this is soooo cute!!!
I must admit that I was shocked when I first saw his LR render! Because I was really hoping we'd have lots of scenes between Light and grown up Hope!
But now, I think I'm really gonna have FF13 vibes with this LR^^ the perfect team (Lightning and young Hope) is back again, and I just can't wait to see how they'll interact^^
Maybe this time, it's Lightning who will show a fragile side, and Hope will be the one giving her courage, because I've heard he's 527 even if he has his young body^^

Thank you, I'm glad you like it! I was surprised by the LR render as well, but I was really happy about it--I definitely didn't expect them to go this route, but I'm happy about the FF13 vibes it gives off, as well. I'm looking forward to their interactions a lot myself.

Honestly, I really expected this after seeing the screenshot of Hope saying "Welcome home." xD
They are looking so happy and peaceful and you've used a wonderful orange color scheme! I love it!

Do you think you can only get the Cloud costume if you preorder or will it be available as DLC (for which you have to pay of course) later, too?

It's being advertised as a preorder bonus so I wouldn't count on it being available later. I intend to preorder since I really want that costume.

Okay, thanks for your opinion! I really really want this costume, too, but I don't know if I want to preorder it because of the price... XIII-2 was much cheaper after waiting for some time, and since I became a fan of this FF pretty late... well. xD

Haha, glad you weren't disappointed, then! It's nice to know you thought of me when you heard the news. xD I was wondering if anyone was curious how I would take it, since I don't think I ever said before that XIII Hope's design is my favorite.

Yeah, both XIII and XIII-2 became much cheaper after a while; that's actually why I waited a few months to get XIII-2. (If I'd waited a bit longer, the price would have gone down even more, but oh well; I'm glad I played it when I did.) I don't really want to pay full price for it either since it's not an AAA title or anything, but considering how much I'm anticipating it and all the drawings I'm making for it, I don't see how I can avoid it if I'm going to get everything I want out of the game. Actually I would like to import it because the Japanese release is so far away from the Western one and I know I'm just going to spoil myself on everything once people start posting about it, but I'm not sure whether that's a reasonable option considering I probably won't understand most of it if I do that.

Now I always have to think of you if there is something regarding Light or Hope, or both together. It's great to hear that you like his XIII design most, just like me.

I'm afraid that even if you preorder you can't get anything. There are seven "samurai" outfits or something like that, and I've heard outside of Japan only three are announced so far. At Amazon.com you get the Cloud pack, at Amazon.co.uk you get this Samurai pack, and at Amazon.de you get nothing so far. I don't know if this will change and everyone can get everything, but I really hope so.
Well, I wouldn't do that especially because you wouldn't understand much or almost nothing, I don't know. xD
Maybe you should just try to avoid pixiv for that time?

aw this picture is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute (actully first saw it on tumblr but whatever)
When i first saw Hope in Lightning reuturns, i laughed my arse off (my sister thought i was having a fit x3). But yer, i prefer XIII Hope to XIII-2 Hope >/////////////////////<
I do think that this will be cute, however I hope that in the end he does go back to his XIII-2 apreance because it kindov fits better that he is older

also, i really dont like the Cloud costume for lightning
it just doesnt fit her in my opinion

Thank you, glad you think so! Yeah, I hope he goes back to his XIII-2 appearance in the end too just because it would be strange for him to have to live his adolescence over again--I hope we get a decent explanation for why he's in a kid's body again.

That's fine, you don't have to use it. I think it's awesome though and will be preordering just to get it.

Yeah, I can understand aging a little over 500 years, but Hope turning into the 14 year old kid that Light knew again is going to be interesting. Ha ha I'm finally just glad I finally found someone who ships Hope and Light too

Yeah, it will be. I'll be happy if their interactions resemble the dynamic they had in XIII; I'm really curious how the situation develops, and hope that at some point she will finally get to meet him face to face as an adult.

Haha, I'm glad too! There isn't that much of a following for it in Western fandom (and it doesn't help that the XIII fandom is small already). But there are always supporters out there.

Though I can't imagine Lightning and Hope ever getting intimate.. they're still so cute together. She's almost like a big sister to him, except that she isn't. I can't believe people find Hope annoying when he's so darn adorable. The fact that he's now a kid with the mind of an adult is going to be even better and pretty interesting. Now.. I wonder where Alyssa is and if she still supports 'director'

They are! I feel like finding Hope annoying is missing the point of his whole character arc; he got more development than most of the rest of the cast. (Vanille also got significant development, which is probably why she's my other favorite character.) Hope was definitely angry and misguided in the beginning of XIII, but I really liked how he moved past that. I'm also really looking forward to seeing his interactions with Lightning in this new situation.

Haha, I think Alyssa would support "director" from beyond the grave if need be xD She'd use time travel to find her way to him somehow.

People don't seem to get the fact that Hope is a KID. A normal, teenage boy who had a normal life and is thrust into all this madness. I think he actually handles the situation realistically. He directs his grief toward revenge, and given the situation he allowed his sorrow to control him. He IS one of the most well developed characters, and I would like to see any other teenager get tossed in that situation and see how useless THEY are.

I agree--if anything, he actually got over his mourning more quickly than could realistically be expected (and I was glad he seemed to still be sad about that in XIII-2, to show he hadn't forgotten it completely though he had learned to deal with it). There is a general tendency towards complaining about characters that show flaws and weaknesses rather than handling things gracefully all the time, though flaws are often what make a character interesting.

It's funny, people always hate characters for their flaws, but it's their flaws that make them who they are. If they aren't perfect themselves (which no one is) then they shouldn't expect characters to be either. What's funny is then they hate characters for being 'too perfect'
