tumblr Sometimes when people stop responding to messages for almost two weeks, they come back with a really good excuse for why they were gone, such as, say, getting way ahead on NaNoWriMo and striking a book deal before the month is up. I always have to say things like, “Sorry, I got addicted to Fire Emblem,” and this is why I don’t function in normal society.
I should really talk about Fire Emblem more often because it’s one of my all-time favorite game series, and Blazing Sword is definitely my favorite of the ones I’ve played (7, 8, 9, and 10). Fire Emblem has this perfect mix of compelling strategy gaming, beautiful official art, and enjoyable characters that makes it incredibly addictive to me, which is why in retrospect it was a really bad idea to procrastinate on NaNo by starting FE7 over from the beginning, because I ended up not getting anything written until I had finished the whole game.
Lucius is my favorite character in the series because I’ve always had a preference for healer/priest types of classes, and when this is paired with a calm and benevolent personality as well as the capability to be an awesome magic user in a fight, that’s pretty much the formula for earning my respect. I like Nils and Ninian mostly because they have blue hair, and also because secretly being a dragon is cool.

Lucius is my little, beautifull critmonster. He crits more than Guy with the Wo Dao (not state-whise, but i counted once xD) But it took me a while to notice that Lucius is a guy. (Serra-support *cought*)
I'd have a hard time choosing a favorite in this game, but if i had to choose three, i'd take Lucius, Pent (the overkill-machine) and Hector.
Should i ever get my hands on one of ikes games (and the console for it too ;_
So far, i've played 6 (emulator..), 7, a hack of 7, 8 and 13. 7 also with eliwoods hardmode und 8 ephraims hardmode. i'm currently on 13 lunatic (xD), i don't even manage to beat the second level, i feel like a noob...

Haha, Lucius always crits a lot for me too, which is awesome. xD Haven't compared him to Guy though; I always had the idea that my myrmidons got more crits than anyone else but I haven't counted myself. I have a really hard time choosing favorites as well--I think Pent is awesome too, and I also like Nils, Ninian, Lyn, Florina, Canas, Nino, and Priscilla. Narrowing it down from there is hard for me. xD Hector is very useful ingame, but Lyn's my favorite Lord in the whole series.
I need to replay the Tellius games; they have some awesome characters. (Titania is one of my favorites in the whole series.) I've forgotten a lot of things about the non-Elibe games. Haha, don't feel bad about FE13 Lunatic, I haven't even started it yet.

Somehow i never really liked Nino. She's cute enough and has an adorable character, but i just don't like her. xD And she comes darn late too. I got through the trouble to train her and even gave her that alf..something that increases stat-growth of a character. Pent still outclassed her by lengths. I usually don't take pre-evolved units with me, except for Pent (and, depending on my current archer, Louise) and Jaffar once. (I prefer Legault or Matthew though) I really think the list of people there i don't like is alot shorter, than the list of people i like. xD I like Lyn too, both characer- and unitwise. But i rarely give her the Sol Katti in the end, since it slows her down considerably, not fun. xD
Eliwood sometimes is completely fail and on another playthrough he's the biggest beast on the battlefield. I rarely have a unit that really is based so much on luck with the ups to get good or bad. On hardmode i normaly take the foolproof ones, like hector in the front, Raven too. Rebecca and Wil are both decent too (although they both didn't make it in the eliwood hard mode, Louise was better xD)
From the Tellius games i played no.9 at my firends, it's a nice game and Soren and Mia are beasts. xD Soren with his adept and i gave him Vantage, he obliterated everything. Mia had Vantage and Cancel, which was pretty evil too. But my Ike sort of sucked, because i had the splendid idea to give him Aithir AND fairness. Didn't work out well. xD I startet the 10. game too, and i'm somewhere about a third into it now, just got Greils mercenaries and keep cursing Rhys looooooow speed. (I really like that one, but his speed is worse than that of a knight...) It's quite a hard game and not to mention frustrating if you have to keep repeating a chapter, because you forgott to save or managed yourself in a hopeless position. (i play on normal)
I don't like luck-based chapters either, especially if i keep missing with 80% and more and the enemy keeps hitting with 30%. And one of those bastards has a hammer and of course our dear Fredi just has to be in heavy armour... That bandit nearly has him onehit every single time and the rest then just swarms him.

This looks so peaceful. I wouldn't mind being there to read a book! In my various playthroughs, Lucius was always one of my best magic users. Great picture, just lovely.

Personally I prefered FE9, but 7 definitely comes right after it, because of the characters. I just wish I could choose him to be sage later on, like in FE8, cause I can't see his long hair spin around in his sprite once he changes class...

I always found the 2D Fire Emblems easier to get into than the 3D ones (although the ability to save mid-battle in Radiant Dawn is a huge convenience), possibly because I always found it easier to pick up and play handheld games in general. FE9 is great too, though, and was actually my first Fire Emblem game.
It'd be nice if FE7 had class change options, but I'd still promote him to Bishop because I think it suits him better in a story context, given his dedication to St. Elimine. It is too bad about the hair though. Everything's better with flowing anime hair.

yes^^ worst about Path of Radiance was to spend hours on a level you have to reset again and again, only because of one stupid fault. That's why I also hated hard-mode in FE10...
I do play the handheld games more often, cause the levels are short and good for a break. But the storys in the console titles are way more memorable

Fire Emblem keeps me from functioning properly in a normal society as well. Sometimes I bring my little GameBoy Advanced micro to work and play it when I'm supposed to be cleaning the bathrooms.xD

Unfortunately I didn't play many Fire Emblem games (and don't know this one), but I really like the series so far. Strategy games with interesting characters and an exciting story FTW!

Ahhhh Lucius! <33 I'm happy that you are into FE-- love your art style and it looks wonderful applied to these characters.
You should play FE6 too-- it's a direct sequel to Blazing Sword and has a lot of great characters.
