So last summer, Disneyland was supposed to have this great big glorious new dragon for the FANTASMIC! Show. That didn't happen. The company they hired to build it used the wrong specs (which seems to be a common problem for them lately) and they ended up having no dragon all summer. This picture has a related history.The night that the dragon was supposed to make its appearance, the people working guest control for the parade were laughing about the lack of a dragon and all the people waiting for hours to see it not show up. I was part of that. I also started drawing this lovely thing that night. And then I kept putting the little drawing aside, never finishing it. Last night I happened to sit down and finish coloring it.
The lighting is wrong, I know that. I had no idea there was a sunset when I started drawing it, but I didn't want the dragon to fade into the background. I'm really happy with this one.

And eesh, glad I didn't go to Disney last summer--that dragon was awesome, would've stunk to go to the show only to have it not show up.

They're testing the forelegs so they won't be static any more. Apparently they want it to look like she's walking out of her cave. Doesn't really work considering the location of Maleficent, but I don't care, it's awesome.

Malificent was a pretty cool dragon, I like how you stuck to that same kind of theme. It seems like a lot of dragons are trying to look like they belong in a dnd book, the structure seems a lot more classical in your work. It looks great, good job getting it colored as well, I know what a pain it can be sometimes.
