Description After attacking a Roman guard tower and outpost on the Middle Rhine a 5th century Frankish chieftain and his followers consult an officer, who has defected from the "Limitanei" (Roman border patrol), in order to plan their next raid. Evidently his lieutenant has not given up without a fight and remains indignant as he is led captive down the path which winds along the river.

Thanks. That's what I was going for. It's easy to imagine eras like the Migration Period and early Dark Ages in a fantastical way but I prefer to call to mind a more sober and gritty vision of the past.

This is brilliant! The landscape, the details of their armour...it's all perfect!

I'm glad you appreciate those nuances. I did quite a bit of research on armor from this period. Someday I plan to do a full color version but I want my digital painting skills to be good before I tackle it.

Yes it's exactly what I think and hope! I would like a campaign using the faction of Procopius .... it was my last campaign in SAJ Mod so I would like to see what Knon manages to do with the relative of Julian...
