May this be the first of many awesome icons and deviations submitted to this group, and may our discussions be even better.

I came up with the idea of using cogs or gears in the group icon because I want this group to be about "getting the wheels turning." I want us to be able to look deeper at the art meanings and techniques we discuss, and really promote what I feel the world may be lacking --some free thinking.

I've used the simple pattern of squares in the corner as a means of illustrating the repetition. Repetition? Yes, you heard me right. According to dictionary.com rote is a routine; a fixed, habitual, or mechanical course of procedure. I want thinking to become a habit, a pattern done over and over. The plan is to accomplish this by repeatedly doing it, not repeating the same things until you have memorized them.

Also in making the image, I felt it was best to keep it clean and simple, a good reflection on life.

* this could of course all be considered a load of tosh, but I'll let you think about it then figure that out all for yourself.
