Description I've been mulling creating a new series. Not sure what I'd call it, but it would be series of pieces depicting my rendition of femme fatales, monstrous maidens, and deadly dames from myth and legend. Mostly of the monster-y kind.

A is for Ammit

Aliases - Ammit / Ammut / Ahemait
Titles - Devourer of the Dead / Eater of Hearts /  Dweller in Amenti
Mythos - Egyptian
Lore -Before a soul can enter the afterlife, the heart must be weighed by the Scales of Truth. Anubis, jackal-headed God of Death, weighs the heart against a feather of the Goddess of Truth, Ma'at. Thoth, Scribe of the Gods, records the result in his tome. Should the soul not be deemed worthy, the heart is consumed by the beast of judgment, Ammit. A vicious, but righteous and divine monster, she possesses the head of a crocodile, the torso of a lion, and the hindquarters of a hippo. Those whose hearts are devoured are condemned to eternal restlessness, and can never pass on. While never outright worshiped, Egyptians feared Ammit, who embodied everything that terrified them.
