Description Jean's costume here reflects my theory that Jean works best as a cheerleader / poster child for the X-Men. She's fun, cute, and down-to-earth-- everyone's friend. Phoenix shit is overdone. It was great when it first happened back in the 70's but it's time to put it to rest. I like Jean when she is NOT scary, emotionless, and omnipotent. And truth be told, true Jean (without Phoenix power) is still subtly one of the most powerful characters due to her beauty and status.

I'd love to see a Thundercats Vs. MOTU comic. A buddy of mine made an Avatar for me with the name but I forgot to download it & now for all I know it's been lost to the vastness of internet space...

And thanks.

Well I may draw it at some point.
Also into drawing Skeletor and Mumm-Ra (hot versions of course) in a sexual situation, except I can't figure out who'd bottom and who'd top. hehe.

Well the Jean I love is a bit different (Don't worry I loathe the Phoenix like you wouldn't believe , This is what I do to it [link] ) . I am much more enamored with late 80's -90's Jean, she was kind , caring yet had the temper of Donald Duck & enough badassery to fight against seemingly unwinable odds . If there's a word to define Jean it's Heat. BTW here's the full article [link]

Omg I love you!!! Jean is awesome!! Phoenix stuff is overdone! Why won't writers let it rest?!?

Well, I know exactly why. The Dark Phoenix Saga is considered one of the greatest comic stories of all time-- rightfully so. Newer writers want to capitalize off that by adding their own stupid chapter to the story. I wish they'd realize that all that does is diminish the purity of the original story and put more layers of unnecessary confusion on it.

I am torn because while I feel that new readers deserve an epic equal to the poignancy of Phoenix, I kinda feel like they should just read the original story and be happy with that.

Next to her pre-New X-Men Marvel comics canon portrayal, my favorite Jean is on X-Men Evolution. What did you think of her there? I just liked how she served as such a role model but really had her own inner struggles that most others couldn't really see. I also love that we got a new version of the Scott/Jean courtship, unencumbered with Logan shit.

by the way, I mean to comment on that in my last giant reply to you-- how you said Logan/Jean was old and tired and everyone was totally over it! I agree-- Logan/Jean is tiny afterthought of a nugget of X-History that modern fans think is way more important than it really is. It's the movies' fault too, but good old' Morrison decided to bring it back in the books. So lame. Logan is a bachelor-- he fucks all the Marvel U's vixens-- Viper, Mystique. He really wouldn't go for a goody-good like Jeannie, IMO.

Hoho , Now that's a tasty feedback :joyicon: Therefore I have to decorticate it !

"Omg I love you!!!"

Gee thanks! I am touched you care ! Wouhooo

"The Dark Phoenix Saga is considered one of the greatest comic stories of all time-- rightfully so."

Well . I like it . It's in the top 10 & all but I'm more of an AOA, FAOCP , AOCP, "Burnt Offering" or X-cutioner song fan. To me Jean was nailed down with Weezie's X-factor run & what Fab & Lobdell did with her ( The exact issue where she went from a character I like to a character I love is issue 28. She gave Victor Creed such a "Shut up Hannibal !" that I think the issue should've been renamed Jean is awesome ! )

"on X-Men Evolution. What did you think of her there? "

Are you curious enough to see for yourself ? Then take the ticket & enjoy the ride ! [link]

As for Wolverine... How can I put this ? I do think that I have to precise why I came to love Logan but hate James Howlett...What made me like Wolvie was the fact he was a man trying to fight his horrible impulses & doing good because of all the horrors he has committed (in a way , he was an older & grumpy Kenshin Himura) . What was also great was his enemity with Victor creed, his wonderful friendship with Jubilee & the rivalry turned into respect with Cyclops.
Without Sabretooth was he became a pathetic hypocrite shell of the once really awesome Logan. Enters James Howlett from the shitty origins stuff! This one is a pathetic snikty douchebag & a murderous lapdog even worse than the monsters he fought ( they are at least honest). And now he's seen as TEH most powerful EvAAH! (my top 20 x-men foes poster shows more than 10 guys that crush that claim rather quickly..)

Yunno, I liked "Logan" better than this Howlett shit too. I liked the mystery behind his origin. Revealing it kinda ruined the character. Wolverine is now bland and boring as opposed to being the bad-ass wild-card I grew up with.

I mean-- Logan in a classroom? Really? And while I'm on that-- why did Schism happen? Since when did you have to be on either "team teaching" or "team soldier?" Why can't we be both?

This is my absolute favourite remix of your hands-down. She's incredibly beautiful and voluptuous while still being very poised and graceful. And the outfit is just -- I REALLY wish they would have dressed her in this. I LOVED the mini-dress she wore and to see it here with a better colour scheme is really cool and to have her in that face thingy (what the heck do you call it anyway?) really packs a punch too.

Lol I dunno what ya call that thing! A headpiece?

Thanks so much- this is my favorite one too. It's funny, as a kid I kinda hated Jean. now she's up there in my top five. Yunno what did it? Evo. I really liked their interpretation of her. Like, popular, beautiful, athletic- ya ink she has it all... but then you learn she has struggles and is somewhat tragic, just like all the others. I especially like that they played up other characters' jealousy toward her.

And yeah- always love her in red- and always loved the dress. It just screams cheerleader! Haha

I think I always kind of wanted to like Jean. Like in the cartoon I liked her hair (yeah, I was a superficial kid who based his likes on characters' looks) but I always thought she wasn't funny like Rogue was and she wasn't as loud as Storm was (who I lovingly always called "STOOOOOOHHHHHHM!!"). I think the movies did it for me, then Evo. I think I liked her in both because she was given the dimension of being highly intelligent but also fashionable and athletic. She was like Kim Possible. >.<

But I disliked her in New X-Men. Thought she was a roaring bitch.

THANK YOU!!! Everyone praises Morrison so much for doing what he did-- and OK, some of it was genius... but his characterizations of the X-Men were really far off! To me, at least! What was that trying to make Hank gay shit? And dude, Emma was never British! And Jean woud not behave like this! AAARG!

I liked the school aspect, and the black uniforms were a nice touch, and some of those arc are my favorites (love riot at xaviers.) But Really hated the Jean/Scott/Emma dynamic. It spits in the face of when this happened before with Betsy. And to not even mention or reference the Psylocke love triangle really rubbed me the wrong way. Everyone that was into Morrison's "psi-cheating" I made sure to remind them, "this is not original. I've seen this before." And their reply was alyas something like "Oh but Emma's cooler than Psylocke." or "But this feels more natural."

UGH!

I loved that he gave Emma an accent! Totally added more snootiness to her character. I mean, Madonna sported one there for a bit so why shouldn't Em? But Jean was quite a bitch -- she was downright cruel when it came to Emma and I loved Hank shoving it in Jean's face that she's overreacted and that Emma was a casualty in the shittiness that was their marriage.

What did you think about the freaky mutants? I mean, the Stepford Cuckoos were literally the ONLY human-looking mutants at the school. The rest were like animals and aliens.

I like the difference between Psylocke and Emma's homewrecking though. Psylocke was more of a direct homewrecker because she was actively seeking Scott's attention whereas Emma knew of Scott and Jean's failing marriage and thought to "help".

ANTI-HEROES In reply to Femmes-Fatales [2010-08-24 14:54:08 +0000 UTC]

Yea see my problem with morrisons run was that he just up and invented the "failing marriage". Before that, there was no instance of there being a problem. No other writer thought to tread that ground cuz it took so kong to get them together in the first place. And if you ask me, I think there were plenty of new stories they could have told with a married Scott and Jean.

Emma with Scott seemed totally outta character for me, and though Morrison made Emma cooler, she WAS quite different than in Gen X. It was all left field feeling for me. None of these emotions and motivations were previously hinted at or talked about by any other writer.

Femmes-Fatales In reply to ANTI-HEROES [2010-08-24 22:09:14 +0000 UTC]

I think the build-up was there. When Jean and Scott went to live in Alaska, he was having some issues with her wearing the Phoenix costume. Then we were just supposed to infer that something was "wrong" with him when he came back from Apocalypse's clutches.

Overall, it kind of reminds me of the storyline they did on Buffy. Buffy gets resurrected, alienates herself from her friends because she feels she came back wrong and bangs Spike. Cyclops nearly does the same. He comes back from Apocalypse, alienates his wife and bangs Emma. Funny, both characters are Summers and get with a formerly evil bleach-blond who has an English accent. How odd.

Who knows. It could be possible. Bruce Timm and gang were massive Buffy fans -- that's why you find a lot of Whedon-related actors on JLU.
