I really like the emotive delivery in that one eye. To me, it's as if she is in an 'Ugh' moment, yet there's playfulness and familiarity inside.

Thank you, as I was just saying earlier, i don't think it's my merit, I just found the reference picture and I tried to paint it

In some way, I'm not actually satisfied with the brushing, I think it's too realistic. I personally prefer the more brushy style. But it was one of my first portraits in Painter, and I have enough time to explore

oh, thanks. exactly the brushing is my little problem here [and not only here]. i usually want to keep a painted look, meaning i like to see the brush strokes, the direction, the flow, but then again, i am attracted to how good it can look if i refine it further. so this kids means i dont really know when to stop... i mean, i think i do know, but it's hard to make up my mind. i find that paintings with less strokes [less is more principle], if the strokes are good of course, have so much power and feeling.
so regarding this particular work, i was afraid that i went too far with the refining. so... thank you

I know exactly what you mean, I struggle with the same things myself - especially when I set out to do speedpaintings, they always end up being to detailed and sharp. But this piece still ended up being very solid!
