Ok.. so i've been playing a fair bit of CS lately.. (counter strike)and... i was in class, and drew one of the models in it.. '1337 crew' lol umm drew a bit of bg and crap at the time, was gonna have a counter terrorist comin up, but... he was garbage so i scrapped it, and did the entrie BG with the computer... and as much as i tried, i still think it's GARBAGE... lol.. ohw ell *sigh*
anyhoo

The drawing part is good a hell. I think the big problem with your background is the dirt. You need a vanishing point, and in this case, the texture in the foreground is the same size as in the backgroun. Try using the Free Transform tool... If you're using Photoshop...

i tried to use differant brush sizes for the texture... though as far as 'texture' it was just a paintbrush, lol..

The free transform too allows you to ... Herm... okay make a selection with the marquee tool and then hit Ctrl+T.
You'll get a four-sided bounding box with nodes and crap. Drag the nodes around and see what happens. Using Ctrl, Shift, Alt, or any combination of them will give you a different effect with the mouse. Once you're done transforming your selection, press Enter to apply the changes.
You can transforming things without making a direct selection as well. As long as you have the layer on which your object is, selected; you're good to go.

I very much enjoy the scenary/backround, and the textures you used. Seems very CS-like. The charactor is nice, however attention to some details may have made the image stronger. (you can ask me to expand later if you want) Overall, good pic though!
