SOLDFirst deviation of 2011 (won't be the last for sure. Next up: Scarlett Johansson).
Even though this was a commissioned drawing I enjoyed working on it very much! The reference was beautiful and very high quality. I'd show you but I only got in on my computer and didn't find it online.
This is drawn with pencils on bristol paper. I'm guessing this took me between 30 and 40 hours, maybe even more.
The song that belongs to this drawing is 'Little Lion Man' by Mumford and Sons, I listened to it over and over again while drawing. <3

well i noticed that constcutively most of your drawings are quite wrong
example: eyes are missplaced ( check your johnny depp drawing ) and its a shame that your shading is very good and if you pay a little more attention on the construction of a drawing you'll raise your level very high

how do you smudge the background so smoothly, and with no lines from the pencil tip?

First of all, I use bristol paper. And I never ever touch the surface of the paper with my fingers: the result of that would be dark spots after smudging.
the key to a smooth background is patience: you draw with pencil, then smudge, then erase irregularitiers with kneadable eraser, pencil again, smudge again and so forth until it's perfect^^

Amazing drawing...and I have to admit it LOVE mumford and sons, and had a feeling the previous drawing's title (awake my soul) might of been in reference to one of their songs
