They say money can't buy you happiness. Apparently, not according to this Splatfest.

August's Splatfest has come and gone. This time, we revamped an old favorite: Love vs. Money. However, since there are three idols, we need a third team. They decided to make that third team about Fame, so now, it's Money vs. Fame vs. Love. As a citizen of the United States, I was unable to participate in the first match from the first game because it was exclusive to the Japanese only, but I was able to play the second match in Splatoon 2, where I chose Team Love (because love is eternal), and that team ended up winning. When word got out that Splatoon 3 was going to do another Love vs. Money battle, there were some who wanted to see if lightning can strike thrice by having Team Love win again, or those on Team Money seeing if they can make this their time, whereas Team Fame was virtually ignored (again, poor Frye for always being saddled with the options no one likes).

Well, after 48 hours of duking it out, the shock of our lives came to us when it was announced that Team Money won with 33 points, whereas the other two teams each got 12 points. It was shocking to Team Money supporters because they finally won after losing the first two matchups, and it was shocking to Team Love supporters because we didn't win their third matchup in a row. I may have been a Team Love supporter, but I'm glad that Team Money won in the long run, mainly because the amount of support I've seen people on Twitter give was overwhelming (in fact, one of the people I'm following was a major advocate to the support), and I was genuinely surprised that the unexpected actually happened. One last thing I want to bring up is that this is probably the least I've ever spent playing a Splatfest. I ended up only playing in two matches (the first was with Team Fame, where I lost, and the other was against another group of Team Love supporters, which I won). The reason I didn't play much of this Splatfest was because I was really busy throughout the weekend. I haven't revealed this yet, but my family and I are currently getting our backyard renovated so that we can put in a bigger patio, and it's sometimes so mesmerizing just to see the crew tearing out the old cement with jackhammers, pickaxes, and sledgehammers (let me tell you, those jackhammers are NOISY). Also, I've been spending a lot of time on that Emmy the Robot Discord server, and I got to do something I've never done before: host a livestream, specifically of me drawing some Emmy related artworks so that I can give people a real-time look at my creation process.

When it comes to making this artwork, I knew that I wanted it to be another Team Money Marie artwork. In fact, the person on Twitter I mentioned a few moments ago served as my biggest inspiration, as has a whole folder dedicated to Team Money Marie artworks, whether they were commissions she requested or fan arts she could find online (she hasn't added mine yet). Another reason I wanted to make this is because this would allow me to once again draw that coin between Marie's boobs. To make it more interesting, I decided to add in Shiver, and instead of having a coin placed between her boobs, I decided to put in a few bills. One last thing I want to talk about are the little speech bubbles featuring Callie and Big Man. Since they were supporters of Team Love, I decided to use their heartbreaking reactions to not only add a bit of humor to the artwork, but to also fill in those empty spots.
