Description A drawing of the Shaw's Cowfish, Aracana aurita
Decided today i would change things up a bit, since its the first day of my hollidays. I decided to draw the first thing that came to my mind, and for some reason that was this cowfish. Might do some more fish in the coming few days
If you go for a walk along the beach following a storm in southern australia, you are bound to come across a dead specimen at some point. I have a few sun-dried specimins in my collection already. They are instresting because of their bony carapace, which sets them apart from other fish.

It was a bit of a challenge working with the bright blues and yellows, i admit. But i dont mind a challenge sometimes.
I think next time i might work with colours im more used to, though.

From wikipedia:
"Aracana aurita (striped cowfish, Shaw's cowfish or Shaw's boxfish) is a species of boxfish native to the Eastern Indian Ocean. The species was first described by George Shaw in 1798. It is carnivorous and exposes prey in the benthic zone by blowing a jet of water onto sediment."
