Description ok, I just bought my first digital camera today and I'm pretty excited! I drew this last week, but I wasn't able to take a picture of it before now, so I'm pleased that I can share it. This is an ink drawing of Napoleon and Josephine strolling in a peaceful garden, which is based on a photo I took at Casa Loma in Toronto. If I had pictures from France, I would have used them, but I'm planning a research trip/fun vacation to Paris sometime this year, so hopefully I'll get lots of source material then.

I drew this for drawing class. I'm working on a second drawing, an interior shot, and it's killing me, all the details!

Your drawings are so beautiful; they achieve an enourmous amount of meaning with a wonderful composition and detail as demonstrated by this seemingly simple but very emotional piece. You are an excellent artist and I am fortunate to have stumbled upon this wonderful piece with its soft shading (thank you random deviant button!).
Keep up the excellent artwork.

Beautifull, the inking technique is really elegant here, like some sort of mix between ink and watercolors (we call this aguadas and not acuarelas when you do it with ink, but I don't know how they call it your country).

And the landscape is amazing.

I don't think there's a word for it in English, it's just "ink drawing" no matter what technique you use. Thanks very much for the comment!

Woow, that's very detailed! o.o
The ink techinque looks just like watercolour, which I thought you had used for this picture, it never knew you could do something like this with just ink.

Yep, you can use ink just like watercolour, nice thing about it is unlike watercolour, it's permanent when it dries!

Ah I see. Something tells me that not any kind of ink works for that.

I used a coloured acrylic ink for this, but it works with india ink too.

Do those cost much? All my inking has been done with a cheap pen...

angelajordan In reply to Maarika [2006-10-06 13:31:03 +0000 UTC]

It's not really that expensive, it's usually very reasonably priced if you buy a starter set of different pen nibs and a holder. And the ink depends on what brand you want, I usually just get whatever's on sale ^^ It'd be expensive to buy a full set of colours, so I'd just buy a couple bottles I think I could use.

this is fabulous. i will never know how you were able to do that with ink, but it looks absolutely stunning. really really awesome work!

angelajordan In reply to ember-reed [2006-10-02 04:00:23 +0000 UTC]

Thanks a lot. It's a combination of two techniques: drawing the ink on full-strength with a pen, and watering it down to apply with a brush.
