Description I guess you could say my fear for the mirrors started to grow from that point. My depression was still as strong as ever, but I was getting better at holding it in. I really didn't want to step back into the house that my family was killed in, but I had no other choice. I did figure that helping my aunt move her things into the moving truck would "allow" me to do some snooping. I had to find out more about her, she was almost a complete stranger to me despite being family. Heck, I don't even want to refer to her as family.

Whenever my aunt was busy packing her stuff, I would look in a cabinet, cupboard, anything for information. I didn't find anything of interest until I pulled the bottom drawer of a filing cabinet. It was locked, which made me even more curious. It was an old cabinet, the latches that were locking it were probably really weak.

Going into the kitchen, I found a tiny screwdriver, it was perfect for prying the drawer open.
"Cathy, are you putting the coffee table in the truck like I asked?" Aunt Elise called out.
"Yes Ma'am." Totally NOT.
With the screwdriver in my hand, I started picking at the latch that locked the drawer. It was stronger then I thought it was, so it took way more effort. But my work did not go unrewarded. Once I heard the satisfying click from the cabinet, it opened. My eyes met a dusty book and perfectly carved glass sphere. "Interesting." I said to myself while grabbing the sphere to take a closer look. Inside the sphere was purposefully carved metallic shards. The sound of my aunts footsteps coming downstairs caught me off-guard.
Quickly (and quietly) I shoved the book and the sphere in my purse, the acted like I was observing the coffee table.

"You're still didn't move it out yet?" Aunt Elise complained.
"It's kind of heavy." I tried to look honest.
Elise laughed a hearty laugh. "You just need to put some muscle in it."  She lifted the heavy coffee table onto her back like nothing. She was quite strong despite her fragile looking appearance. This made me feel like a weak complaining cheerleader. Still, I was rather surprised she could carry such a table.
"C'mon, Cathy, we still have a lot more furniture to move."
"Don't call me that." I shot back.
"Would you prefer Cath? Or how about Cat?"  She tipped her head.
This woman was starting to get on my nerves. "Let's just NOT stick to nicknames right now." I grumbled.
"Anything you say, Cathy." She proceeded to go outside to put the table in the truck, while I facepalmed.
"Why do I have to live with her?!" I said to no one in particular.

My mind focused on what I now have in my purse. She might notice it gone, but not before I get a chance to read the book. Next time I'm alone I'm totally going to crack it open, my aunt probably keeps her dirty little secrets in there. I just need to wait for the right time to read it...

Sadly, that time didn't come until after we were back in my hometown and all her items were in my house. When she was busy unfolding her packed clothes, I took that moment to creep up into my bedroom with my purse clutched tightly in my hands. I locked the door behind me and instantly my heart stopped when I saw my old mirror I kept on my vanity in my bedroom. My blood when cold as I recalled the creature that came from the mirror. Just the sight of the mirror made me want to puke. "Calm down, Aunt Elsie said they could only escape when the mirror is broken." I reminded myself. I took the blanket on my bed and draped it over the mirror.

Glancing at the book I left on the bed, I saw the book looked the same as any other. It was a completely brown leather journal-looking one, but as far as I know I could have been carrying around a blank one. But I hoped more than anything that the book will tell me more then what my aunt is saying.

Laying down on my bed, I finally was able to open the book. The first page was blank except for "Property of Elise Ibela" scribbled in ink. The next page, however, made my heart skip a beat. A date was jotted down, as well as an entry titled "My experience with the Mirror Creatures". My eyes widened as I started reading the entry.

This...this will tell me everything...
