Description "Magundi" means "female magician" in the Sanskrit language.
I made this wand out of polymer clay, I designed and hand painted it. I used lots of stones: A large Chevron Amethyst at the tip, a Crystal Quartz point at the bottom. And the stones set in the wand are: Garnet, Carnelian, Citrine, Peridot, Amanozite, Lapis, and Amethyst. It measures about 8 inches long or about 200 milimeters.

LOL! You just made me smile! The day I made these, it was getting late in the day, and I wasn't going to create anything, but I was feeling "magical" and decided to get all my clay stuff out, despite the lateness of the day. So I am happy for your comments, made my day!

Great job! How did you secure the stones?

Thank you! I glue them in. Plus I shove them half way into the clay which helps too. Then a clear coat around the bezel part adds additional help.

Did you fire it with the stones in place?

lamorth-the-seeker, Sometimes yes and sometimes no. On the bigger stones, if I am able to take the stone out without ruining the design, then I will, and then glue it back in after baking. But the small ones have done really well in the oven, (knock on wood). I guess it is only cooking at 275 degrees, so I have not had any cracking yet, thank heavens!

I'd be too worried to cook the stones, afraid they'd change color or crack. I wish you luck in the future and hope you never have stones 'fail' in the oven.

Believe it or not, the only thing I have had change color is some glass cabochons that had dichro in them. Won't do that again! haha!

I work with Crystals and faceted stones with polymer all the time and I only had one accident with the topaz cracking and it was because I used a metal sheet for the pendant template to lay flat and it heated up to high...I do recommend curing for a shorter time like 30 minutes...but most stones are heat treated for clarity anyway...so it's pretty eco friendly...sorry I threw my 2 cents in...lol...just thought I would help

Thanks for the info. Good to know! Most of my pieces aren't too large, so they cook around 20-30 minutes, so maybe that is why I have had so much luck, hehe! I am glad they can take the heat, because I love using the gemstones with the clay!
