Description A painting of Medusa by John W. Waterhouse inspired this sculpture. It was the malevolent beauty of Medusa that really struck my imagination. I am still enchanted by Waterhouse’s early work, which I believe had so much power and imaginative brilliance. So mulling the inspiration for a sculpture around in my head for a while eventually produced this design – a witch-like priestess who is levitating a crystal in some ancient, dark ritual. The base, which reaches up to her hips, is an abstract representation of fire. The use of rust on the surface created this illusion and offset the bronze very well. With this sculpture I could indulge myself in the beauty of the female form with Henrietta’s strong but delicate physique belying the power of this witch’s magic and aura.

I just commented the bust close up of this and I happen to have a strange obsession with Medusa, I think that's what it made me think of right away so you've done a great job of being inspired by her but making it your own as well.
