Aw, man, I'm really sorry -- I gave it to someone else!

Nah, you're good -- I have made so many "humor blunders" via e-mail and internet -- I just figured I had screwed up again!

A compelling concept with an equally compelling visual representation! What strikes me most about this piece are the pupils. I find the dark, expansive, inky quality of them both alarming & inviting. The wildness of them beckons, but also threatens. There's something almost flirtatious about the poem, with all of the smiling, winking, and mocking (wonderful metric verse, by the way.) The contradiction of death is very much like the contradiction of love - both are mysterious & hypnotically unpredictable, frightening, but oddly alluring.

I've been turned back three times now, apparently the world isn't done with me. For what reason, for who's sake I don't know.

Yikes! Even once would be enough. It probably depends on the nature of the experience each time, but I would think that stuff like that happens in order to make one more comfortable with the idea of death or afterlife. In a lot of traditional cultures, a near-death experience is considered to be a job prerequisite for shamans in much the same way that the ability to swim is considered a prerequisite for lifeguards. And of course you've probably run across some of the pop Christian stuff that tells the stories of those who have had similar experiences, but within a Biblical framework. Either way, these experiences have potential benefits that can be helpful to others, too.

Each experience was strange and each was different. I can only take from it something that I think we all know intuitively, that "me" persisted apart from my body. All three ended with the "me" being pulled back into my body and feeling myself linking back into my mind and nerves.

That would definitely be mind-expanding! Sounds almost like astral travel, but where you're fully awake.

To frame... and can go, up on to the wall. I would love to see it on the wall. Beautiful (the poem too). ^.^
