Description
A little sketch that resulted from my forcing myself to draw while riding a bus through the Italian countryside. I know, poor me.
Anyways, this is the view out the window of a sort of tower-city (think Coruscant, only less techie) that will be the setting of my new novel-in-progress.
You can see that the vertical lines bow outward a little in the middle. This is based on my studies into the optical perspective (or somesuch) of the Ancient Greeks -- ie, the reason Greek columns are not straight lines from top to bottom: the inside of the eye is a concave surface, not a flat projector screen. therefore, things bow out in the middle and receede towards the distance. Think of it as a sort of rounded-off linear perspective.
Ok, lecture over.
This is in scraps because 1) I'd like to add more detail 2) I'd like to add some sort of shading (probably hatching) and 3) because all my illustrations for this story are to be pen drawings (hence the hatching).
