For Pinkie Pie, I chose the Portuguese Water Dog as her breed. Why? Because The PWD is never without energy and zest and joy. It's a dog that bounces rather than moves and finds fun in everything.The Mane Cast as Dogs:

Great drawing and excellent choice of breed to represent her. I love how you give an explanation and comparison to both pony character and dog breed. Might I suggest a breed for Fluttershy? A Golden Retriever, since they're gentle loving nature has made them great as guide dogs [plus the long flowing hair]. Border Collie for Twilight I totally agree on [one the smartest dogs] . Rarity as a Borzoi, I think would fit [since I couldn't figure out yet what she could be instead]. For Rainbow Dash, I would say either Dalmatian [for it's athletic personality and cool appearance] or a husky/ malamute (I would have also suggested German Shepherd, but it looks like you used that one already).
Anyways, Love your drawings, and I hope you'll come take a look at the drawings I did of the 'mane' 6 as different cat breeds (I realize that some of the breeds I chosen, tend to have 'dog-like' personalities).

Thanks for the suggestions. You made me want to tackle this project again (I might redo them all anyways as my art has improved). I sorta lost interest as people kept saying I should have picked other things >>

On second thought, a terrier [possibly Jack Russel or Parson Russel or Fox Terrier] would fit RD. I just found out that [in 2007] a Jack Russel Terrier from New Zealand named 'George' saved five children from two pit bulls. He was reported to have charged at the dogs and held them off at bay long enough for the children to escape. Unfortunately the pit bulls killed him [

Borzois are beautiful dogs! 8D Afghan dogs are also really pretty, too..
It's hard to pick certain breeds when you think about it.... xD For some reason Rarity makes me think of a dog in "Toy" breed. The little dog rich people would carry around and pamper. Haha.

Yup, it's fun to decide breeds. Yeah, I was thinking of putting a sighthound for Fluttershy, but then realized that sighthounds came with the instinct to chase and kill little animals, so that didn't work out, LOL. They were definitely more Rarity-y in temperament, the Borzoi especially seemed much more since it has that stop-and-stare factor to it as well as a regal personality. It came down to Rough Collie or Borzoi for Rarity.
Spaniels seemed more fitting for Fluttershy since they are very soft dogs in temperament and get along very well with most animals (provided you don't get yourself a birdy trial-bred Brittany!). I'm thinking a Kooikerhondje specifically for her.
Twilight Sparkle, hands down, gets the working Border Collie. And Rainbow Dash, I have been considering a terrier of some sort for her boldness and loyalty.

Haha. A Terrier would really fit Rainbow Dash! I myself owned a Rat Terrier in the past and he was full of energy and very loyal.

Cute! I love Rat Terriers. They were recommended to me as a breed I should look into since I want a dog to do everything and anything with (tricks & sports). My own dog (Chow x Dalmatian) doesn't take to much things like a natural, but I have him trained very well.

I own a Japanese Chin now. ^^ She loves being pampered is and is an attention hog! xD

Oh, my dog is serious as they come, but I make him do everything with me. He's not real friendly, but that's just genetics. I'm not expecting him to be a Labrador. He is a trick dog and knows many tricks. And I spoil him terribly, but he earns it!
