because the thing about it is despite Ultear being the one who destroyed her village Ultear genuinely cared about Meredy. She took her in, treated her right and even when she betrayed Hades she didn’t abandon Meredy. She took Meredy with her after leaving tenrou. She’s not the typical evil mother figure who treated her daughter (or adoptive daughter) like trash or just a tool to be used. Ultear actually loved Meredy and was overall a good mother despite having a strained relationship with her mother.
She even tried to end her own life back at Tenrou for what she did to Meredy but of course that didn’t last because Meredy forgave her. Which is fine. After that they have some cute interactions here and there back
