Description Though the Western Cosmocrators, whether they be based in Chere-Within-the-Empire or the Kaiserstaat, rarely bother to visit Cora; though before the reign of Sergios Melinaeos no Kosmokrator in the East had visited Cora in centuries; though it was and remains a dirty, corrupt and generally unpleasant place where even the western Herophant prefers the safety of his palace far above the plebs...

Cora is still, as it has always been, the official capital of the Imperium Mundi, and the heart of the Inner Sea. Mesoskosmos in the east has its grandeur and its glory, but even its official names (Nea Cora and Drusopolis) are hints that it is a shallow reflection, one trying too hard to be something that it could never be.

The leaders of the crusade all passed through Cora on their way to Mesoskosmos, and carried their Hierophant's blessings into the east. And with their success, two of the old eastern patriarchates are now in the hands of their rightful master and in the possession of men of his choice. And so his cupidity grows. Or, rather, because he's a sincere and diligent man who is sure he is doing what is right for both his faith and his gods and the world, let's say rather that his zealousness grows apace with his success. A distant man, and yet somehow more present in the lives of his fellow believers in the riverlands than his nearer rival in Mesoskosmos, a man he loathes and a city he despises so much that that zealousness may be all that keeps him from turning on them.

Someday, in one of his successors, that hatred may curdle into something else. But for now, Hierophant Gregorias II is enjoying his success at the expense of his rival and turning his attention to his own imminent departure to his gods.
