Description
A friend of mine from Discord is able to rip Shining Nikki outfits and generously gave me this outfit to redo my model of Din. I plan on redoing Nayru and Farore as well, though it's been crazy-busy at work lately.
On this remake I packed in a ton more nods to the franchise overall. There are two races in the Zelda world that have ties to Din: The Gorons, and the Gerudo. For this reason, I chose to recolor the base's skin texture using color samples from Breath of the Wild. I also made her eyes green for this reason. But this model has a second set of eyes (for use with AL) on a separate material, so I opted to make those eyes golden as a nod to Ocarina of Time.
Her outfit is adorned with the Goron Ruby in 3 places: the back of each hand, and just below the neck piece where the original outfit had a butterfly. (Because butterflies aren't the first thing most people think of when you say "power.") Also in 3 places is a metal ornament shaped like Din's symbol. Two small ones adorn her shoulders, and the largest sits in the middle of her belt.
The gloves of the original were changed into fingerless sleeves to show off the pattern I came up with for her nail polish. The Triforce is based off the historical three sacred treasures of Japan, and one of those treasures is the 八尺瓊勾玉 (Yasakani no Magatama) which, as the name suggests, is a magatama bead. And what else looks like a magatama bead? Zonai secret stones, which amplify the user's power!
Finally, I replaced the teardrop-shaped gem inside of the earrings and the heels of the shoes (the latter of which are not visible in this render) with a gem I created in the shape of the Fire Element from the Minish Cap.
Oh, and her hair is now lava. I recolored the texture based on a lava flow.
