She previously lived in the Drow city Karakross. She struggled, due to her blindness, but managed to become a powerful Matron despite her disability. She fled to Xalli after falling out of favor with her Spider Queen. She never wanted to become a drider, most drow would never wish for such a fate. She was turned by River so she could act as a pet to Ari.

Perhaps it was her previous status as a Matron Mother, or perhaps it was her unwillingness to lose her power and authority, whatever the reason her drider form resembles that of the Spider Queen. Perhaps this one is still in Lolth's favor...
