Hm. I wonder if they said the same thing about the pre-Raphaelites when they went around painting pictures of Ophelia, Medea, and Properpina, or Waterhouse (he's Neoclassical, right?) when he painted La Belle Dame sans Merci and The Lady of Shalott? Fictional characters, btw. In other words, why stop doing what artists do?
