Something else i made on holiday, i've always wanted to make something like mars, wondered what the atmosphere is like at sunset, clouds etc. So i downloaded a few terrain models of mars and tried them out, after modifying them to my own needs. Came up with a nice red atmosphere and rendered this. Just from my own imagination, hoping to capture a glimpse of what mars may be like... so hoping got textures right too
PS, mars DOES have canyons/valleys like this, so don't dispute the terrain!!

sun would probly be a bit smaller since mars is on a farther orbital path
it looks about how big itd be from earth

I accidentally clicked on this in my message center (was going through all of roy204's stuff first).. this is something of my internal dialogue waiting for it to load and for mozilla to let me close the window so I could go back to looking through the rest.. "no.. no... no... *loads*.... .woah."
and yeah, it does look rather like mars. mars isn't quite as rocky (from what I've seen), because the sand and wind is constantly eroding at rock and getting finer and finer, but dude, you definately caught mars a million years ago.

Real comments: I really like the land mass and the sky. The colours this has in it are perfect I think. I also Like how you used very little cloud cover.

Awesome work! Love the POV and atmosphere. Maybe it's not an exact representation of Mars, but I don't care. It's a damn cool image, and and breathtaking render. Love the tilt too. It just adds a whole different dimension to it.

Your terragens are mind blowing. Seriously. Whether this is a good, accurate depiction of Mars or not, visually it is impacting. You have a great handle with the sun and clouds, and the effect fo the sun on the clouds. The atmoshpere is very good too, I like that the color is very uniform, and transitions very smoothly into the sky.
Seeing this barren place got me to start to contemplate just how amazing the earth is, in all that is in it, much less, just all the variables that makes it possible for life to thrive here.
